We plan on releasing a closed alpha this weekend, and need people to

confirm that the fix went in
and nothing broke while doing it.

If we don't get enough of us onboard to it. We could do an invite to the alpha, but that could be a real pain in the *A*....

Would much prefer that we handled this unit testing/alpha ourSelves..

I'm in. Don't know how much time I'll have or how much "verification" I'll be able to do, but I'll definitely be doing some playing

Just as long as you happen to move through a "To Do" list while you play..

I think that was Atari's problem.. Sure they played the game, It's just that the QA staff had no test plan/change list to work against....

Which BTW, I'll start harping for from everyone soon as I get done cleaning up the item descriptions..

Are u talking about a patch from Troika that needs testing or no? If so, I would test it any way u needed it.

Yeah, unfrotunately the existence of an official patch team hasn't been confirmed yet..

We're talking something a little more "homeGrown"..

I can test if ya'll need more bodies in the future. I'm an FNG around here, but i test professionally for xbox and have both black and white box testing exp.

Plus i really want to see this game be what it could have been.

Oops. Shouldn't have said that. You're now elligible for QA off of the job.

    In Fact!

"Tell Him what he's won, Jim",

"Well, Bob, He gets to write Test Cases!"..

Seriously though, We do need to get some sort of changeList/Test plan together...

Here's the fly by night, seat of my pants release plan..

Sometime Friday evening, I expect to get a bunch of files sent to me, and (crosses fingers) a list of things everyone thinks they fixed, is posted here.

I aggregate all the files together, (again crossing fingers please no merges, please no merges), and build a zip, and publish it Saturday morning.

Using your aggregated list of changes/test plan/(whatever you want to call it), and the zip, we play^H^H^HTest Saturday, and Sunday. (really just play trying to do the things on the list, while also making sure we didn't bust new stuff.).

Hopefully we do not need to make any additional changes, and we go out with the first zip... Otherwise, we make some changes, re-zip and distribute to the team here, we check the changes, and then publish to the atari forum a thread/link pointing here to get the zip.

(You don't have a byte cap right *e*?)

    Anyhoo, there's much rejoicing yadayadayada,....

We take a couple days off, (or not), and then circle up discussing what else is the next most painful thing..

    Wash, rinse, repeat.

You can count me in, too.
As i'm one of those "i get insane without ID description" people i do what i can to get this in the game (along with a bunch of other features and bug fixes) ;-)

And as i stated in another post: someone tried getting in contact with ANYONE from troika? maybe they are willing to provide more info's about the fileformats/variables etc. used as this would also result in less work for them (searching bugs, adding ID Text, dedicated test-user-base with high morale and so on *lol*)
Maybe the GAME is owned by Atari, but the engine i guess is still property of Troika (i mean the raw engine) .. AFAIK it is "only" a pumped up version of the Arcanum engine .. i think they don't would get in trouble by revealing a bit of the magic behind the engine. (only my guess)
