I'm spamming drider posts today >_> (gotta love talking to yourself :p)

decided on alternate 2, and also made a vampire variant :D though its really just red with extra eyes :D

Because the jpeg compression makes the vampire one lose definition behind it's abdomen thingy; ive included a closeup, since its my favourite part :D

Now it looks cool! Props! Though the skin texture
seems a bit off (it probably won't matter in-game ;))

Yeah... because of the fact that most creatures wont be viewed close up (unless you make them colossal) most of the blemishes etc should be glossed over :)

Its actually pretty amazing how little detail some of the textures have; like the jackal/wolf; they simply dont need it :)

revamped the beholder texture a bit; to make it a bit more natural/rough.
(hard-edge poly's in this pic, just ignore it :p)

Now, that looks awesome! Hey, did you just
retexture the green one present in ToEE? If
yes then, guys, we have a beholder for ToEE!

nope; afraid not :( regular beholders dont have crab claws; the one present in ToEE does... so i made a new model... i could do a simple recolour of the exisiting one if someone was very keen to get regular beholders in, but for now its just another model :p

Hmmm I wasn't aware that they had claws. :eek:_O:
Anyway, someone said something about remeshing....
    Is it still impossible?

its possible to alter the current skin on the model; general recolourations are easy enough; just a few clicks in photoshop :)

Specific details can be harder; as you often need more of an understanding of the UV map being used - understanding a map that someone else has set up isnt always easy

Currently it would be possible to take the current skin, and make it the same brownish colour, as well as alter the eye colour. It would not be possible to use the skin that i have made on the current 'eye of the deep' model though.

Whipped up a couple of beholder variants :p

It would be possible (though not necessarily easy) to re-color the Eye of the Deep skin, and alpha channel out the claws so you can't see them in the game. Instant (relatively) Beholder without needing to mess with animations.

Ok, not sure if i've got the alpha working right - cant actually tell unless its in the game, but i think its round the right way; if anyone wants to give it a whirl in game here it is... you'd need to overwrite the current eye of the deep skin i guess...

oh and a shot of a death tyrant skin i was working on... which may now be obsolete :D blahh!

Alpha-ing out the claws may leave a couple of holes on the body but it should be quite hard to see them in game.

From inspecting the model in max, all the claws appear to be completely seperate geometry (ie if i delete them, theres a remaining sphere with no holes), so unless theres something weird going on between the SKM file and Max, it might work perfectly :D

Not obsolete at all. The EotD thing is just a work-around until we get animation capabilities. Your Beholders are awesome!
