More Sex Pistols than Zeppelin, but yeah...it'll do. Ok. I for one won't give you any of this oint: oop:
hey cuch.... next time want to borrow my Gillies... Haven't worn them much lately... now the question on everyone's mind .....
@Ax: Yeah certainly would have been more traditional, I did consider it but I don't actualy like them all that much.:shame: So i went "semi-tradtional" and just basicly dressed how I wanted to. Cuchulainn.
And here's all of us thinking you being around kids might not be - well, you know...safe. Strictly from a rabies & edged weapons kind of perspective, of course. Here's us living on the edge this past week:
I've watched so many outdoor tv shows recently where someone gets mauled or partially eaten by a bear or dragged off of a path by a mountain lion, I'd have a trusty .308 Winchester Rifle everywhere I'd be at in an outdoors place like that. Yah, normally, a wild animal will pick up the scent of a person 300 feet or more before the person can realize the animal is near and the wild animal will take off in the opposite direction. Otherwise, where you are at does lool real nice for camping though.
Spike, which campground is that... although I prefer the bare basics, having someplace to kick your feet up is nice...
Every place I camp has water & electrical hook-ups. How else do you think I can camp in July? The extension cord was only 50', and had lights & a 20" box fan running in that tent. Made for a nice cool breeze at night, cool enough for me to have to cover up. It also drowned out the noise of the neighbors, too. The only wild thing out there (besides us) would have to be the insects & snakes, but we saw more of the former & none of the latter. I also took enough wood to burn for about 3-4 hours each evening, as the heat seems to drive moisture out of the air, and the smoke keeps skeeters away. http://www.charmeck.org/Departments...rdship+Services/Nature+Preserves/McDowell.htm Axe, they've got more primitve sites available, but however you figure it, it's still smack dab in the middle of civilization. Carowinds is only 10 minutes away. So is the WW Center (well, more like 20), which I think would be a great, safe, bigwater experience where scouts can learn river stuff. They've got lots to do there that isn't water, too. Curufin & I both got instruction there, and learned some self rescue techniques. He got to do class III, but the guide kept me on the class II stuff. Still, I'll never forget it.
