in a role playing sense, can dragons be considered nature allies for the purposes of wild shape and animal companion?(generally dragons use forests and caves and mainly natural locations for their nests, so they should be attached to nature, rather than hating it and destroying it...) i figured it would be cool to see a high level druid with a green dragon companion gently following him, or a druid morph into a dragon using wild shape to gain access to the dragon abilities according to their nature, burning hands(and other fire spells) for black and green dragons, cone of cold for ice dragons, spell resistance... etc... also maybe it would work out nice if we added a high level summoning spell for the 'death' domain to summon wraith dragons (very high level undead) or raise bone dragons from large creatures... maybe mass summoning of shadows and other undead... just an extra question: are dragons under the natural animal/beast category or under magical beast category? or are they considered as a special entity, diffirent from all animal or magical beast categories?
Yes, I know now - unfortunately, I've lost the everything since I last sent you an update (and I still what to jnow how my backup got overwritten  ). This is basically the work on the re-skinned nixie & steam mephit. And I've now got a thumping headache - so I'll try again later. Charles
Ouch, that sucks Nerik. It's funny I've been happily using the sort and combine files features of ProtoEditor for months with no problem, think I'll quit while I'm ahead. Cuchulainn.
Use Beyond Compare 2 (there's a link in the downloads forum) instead of protoED, I've never corupted a protos with it, there are some additional nifty features in there too.
Well, the painful bit will be going through and checking how much I'd done up to that point - and re-doing the special equipment for some of the creatures. I may have to put the chain devil and the pixies on the back burner for the time being, along with the birds (I'm assuming there will be a 4.1.1 or 4.2.0 release at some point ). Anyway, I've got a bit more time that I thought, I was supposed to be going to a games convention today, but I did not feel well enought to travel all the way to Leicester. On the subject of the birds, has anyone had any success at producing a workable owl or eagle mesh? I even tried an enourmously oversized rooser for a roc, the results were interesting . Charles
No. By the rules, dragons are not considered natural creatures and would have nothing to do with druids. Also, black dragons breath streams of acid, and green dragons (used to breath poison gas but now) breath clouds of acid. Neither breathes fire.
Just a quick question: Are you guys (meaning the ones actually doing mod work) planning to include summons like cacodemon, nishruu, fiend, djinni/efreet, and druidics like creeping doom? Most of these were higher level (5-9) spells in BG2 and ToB, and some, like Summon Nishruu, had some innovative properties that made caster-based parties viable. I read the first page, but I'm at school and really don't have time (don't take that the wrong way) to read everything.. Edit: I just realized I'm the only person I've seen so far who has a sig; are they (meaning more than just text) disallowed?
In a manner of speaking, in the 3.5 rules used by ToEE, the cacodaemon, summon fiend, and summon djinni/efreet were rolled into the Summon Monster spells, the higher level summon monster spells include a number of fiends, celestials, elementals, and genii. So I've added a few new fiends (bearded devil) and genii (Jann, Djinni). IIRC Nishruu were more a Forgotton Realms creature than a Greyhawk one, and I'm not sure if they could be implimented using the ToEE engine. Charles
Actually, you may have found the correct way to use them; I have not tried out one of your proto-inserts (though u did mail me one ) presumably that feature was in Proto-Ed for a reason.
Hmm... hit a Major snag, I've tried going back to the old protos.tab that I sent Cerulian - game now CTDs without error box once the blue 'loading' bar has filled up, and I don't know why - that version used to work! I think I'm going to attempt a complete uninstall-reinstall, and work from there, but I'm a bit short for time ATM. Charles
I've found I'll CTDs when loading under a protos.tab if there is a discreprancy between it and the description.mes and long_description.mes. You may have to go back to your older versions of those as well.
That might have been the problem, but I've got it fixed and working again  . I need to re-do some cosmetic armour items though. Charles
