I've also lost my console command capability when I graduated to a new computer last year. It might have something to with Windows 7. I've tried reloading patch 2 multiple times, I've even deleted and reloaded the entire game a couple of times to no avail.

Finally gave up on it and have been enjoying playing the game without it.

I would guess it has something to do with Windows 7. That's what I'm running it on as well.

I also am unable to open the console on my windows Vista OS laptop. when i have played the game on my win 2000 laptop, it works no problem with the 5.9.3 NC version of the game.

So there is a definite unknown issue preventing the Console functions from working on Vista or win 7 on certain computers, as several have reported this. It DOES add in the challenge of having to play the game, err, lol as a kind of "IRONMAN" game since u can't use the console to cheat or anything...

Actually i have been wondering... is it possible to enhance the TFX front end to add some options to adjust the EXP modifier in game? or to "grant" certain scalable levels or options for those playing for the umpteenth time and looking to, shall we say accelerate things just a bit? it might solve the issue for those not able to access the Console, to have a few Front-end options to enhance the game if they so chose... just a thought.

That way anyone interested in making the game "harder" or "easier" or just adjusting the so called "balance" of the game to personal taste by scaling EXP earned, Gold acquired, or certain high-powered items like (Teleportation boots, Scather, etc.) could use the dialog box before booting the game.

    Is that possible?

Otherwise, i am enjoying playing 5.9.3 NC Thanks Co8 for all you do!!!

Gee, I totally abandoned this thread, didn't I?

I won't lie, I totally forgot how exactly to do it, but I recall that you had to mess with keyboard drivers. I'm using HID Keyboard Device instead of w/e the default one was, and the console works for TOEE as well as other games that use the same key...

    Hope this is helpful.

Sorry to open this moldy old topic but I found a solution on another forum:

1: Open up the Device Manager
2: Go to the Universal Serial Bus Controllers tab
3: Maximize the tab to bring up Devices
4: Open the eHome Infrared Reciever (USBCIR)
5: Disable Uninstall it and Restart your computer

It should work after that. (It did for me anyway)

Um...no eHome Infrared Receiver (USBCIR) in my windows 7 control panel->device manager-> usb controllers. Is it called something else or under another tab?

I know that the "`" key does NOT function in ToEE because that is the default mapping for select all party. And when I press it nothing happens.

I did find 3 eHome infrared drivers (CIR 109 Keyboard, CIR Keyboard and remote control keys under the "keyboards" section of device manager...however the 'disable option' is greyed out...but the UNINSTALL one is not...

I would have to experiment and find I've killed my laptop keyboard :p
