Go to the options page. Choose the Preferences tab. Look about 3/4 of the way down the list for "End Turn With Time Remaining" and choose "Never" from the pull down menu. Now, your turn will Never End with Time Remaining and you'll be able to take that 5-foot step after full attack. That would be sweet, but the 'rules' (both PnP and the ToEE manual -- including even the in-game help), explain that metamagic feats convert all Standard Action spells into Full Round Actions for spontaneous casters. An explanation I read somewhere said the sorcerer/bard uses a Move Action to summon the metamagic, and the remaining Standard Action to channel the spell. Whereas Wizards prepare the spell with its metamagic enhancement already in place, and only need the Standard Action to trigger its release, enhancement and all. Personally, I think that if Wizards --due to their 'training'--get bonus feats every 5 levels (intended, I believe, to allow more Crafting), then Sorcerers --being natural born spell 'casters'--should get bonus metamagic feats like Heighten. Maximize, Silent spell, etc. But Wizards of the Coast forgot to contact me and ask my opinion before releasing 3.0/3.5....
