I meant Paida. I already tried "dispell magic", but that's deep in the temple. And therefore she is angry that the party didn't take her to the surface or so.

I read that she is related to a person -> quest in Hommlet, that's why I ask.

I always save before entering the room.

Sometimes, especially if the group gets too close, combat triggers, and the quest is blown.

Usually, you can speak to her, realize she's under some sort of spell, and hit her with a dispel magic. At that point, she should ask to join your party and you can take her out of there.

Okay. Everything's fine. It is exactly so as you say. But ...

This is the point that doesn't happen somehow.

Remember, I'm still using nothing more than the official patches. Maybe that was a thing that was fixed by the CO8 mods ? I don't know.

Or are the social skills not high enough for the party members ?

Be aware also that having an NPC in the party when you enter that room will cause combat to begin for some reason. If you individually select all your NPCs and make them wait outside the room, this won't happen.

Interesting. I thought it was just having too many party members enter at once. Thanks.

Alrik, unless you have already gotten the quest to rescue Paida you will not get the dialog option of having her join your party so you can rescue her.

She's damaged goods...all that elemental evil debauchery!!! Killing her is the only real way to restore her honor. :tombstone Killing her girl friend is just a fringe benefit.:dead:

That doesn't seem right. I've always been able to rescue her, even without a quest. In fact, the only way I know of to get the quest is to play a Lawful Good party.

Maybe it's not a quest per se, but you do need to talk to her husband and have him mention his missing wife before you can rescue her.

Okay, that would make sense. Though IIRC he doesn't even know she's missing without the news the caravan was attacked. He just mentions he's waiting for her to arrive with a caravan carrying a shipment of goods for him. Though it's possible he changes his tune when you talk to him later in the game. I try to avoid running around Homlett more than once a game.

Okay, I'm still on that Paida Quest thing.

    A few spoilers follow.

    I noticed 2 details :

    - There IS a quest being given by her husband !

I don't know why, but earlier in the game he just mentioned her missing; now, however, after some changes in the reputation, he explicitely gives a quest !

    - In the room where Paida "resides", there is on the far left side a small table. next to it there lies a scroll of banishing magic (or how it's called in English).

    - No party member was so far able to acttually use that scroll - a similar problem like with the scroll you can find in the church of St. Cuthbert for the ill person (I think it was the leather workler's brother). In early stages (read : levels) of the party, no party member was able to use it, because using it constantly failed. As far as I can remember.

That least me to the suggestion that wisdom or charisma need at least a certain level to let this scroll work.

    - However, Paida remains stubborn, even after banishing the magic around her. I'll try to translate a bit what she says.

First, she says that she looks angrily at the person which is talking to her. And then she says "So, now we are meeting again". In this sense.

Then, the character is offered two options two answer :

    - The first one is something like : "Fine ! I'm glad you finally made it !"
    - The second one is something like "it was a lot of work and some people just don't say 'thank you'". In this sense.

Her answer to the first option is like "yes, I've made it, but you left me in an awkward place."

Her answer to the second option is something like "yes, but I could've used an escort."
Which sounds to me as if her answer was supposed to be given when she is home at her husband.

I'm actually confused what this mess might mean; it seems to me as if some dialog options have been mixed or so. However, I really cannot say for sure, since I don't know the internal quest and dialog trees.

Can somebody please help me clearing this up ?

Edit : The Gamebanshee Walkthrough says that the party memvbers should actually use the scroll I mentioned above for banning the magic around her (so to say).

And by the way, My fighter still has Scorpp's items in his inventory (remember : I wrote above that Scorpp tries to pick up items even when his inventory is full, mostly with other party member's items, as if a) he couldn't actually "see" the other party member's items in his inventory and tried to put the unes he just looked into the inventory nevertheless or b) he doesn't care at all whether the inventory is already full or not (this time actually "seeing" the other party member#s items in his inventory).

Although Scorpp isn't in the party anymore, I still receive the message that the NPC won't let the items fall.

I do hope there is a console command for changing the items' state from NPC to PC, because I'm getting annoyed by that.

When you Dispel Magic on Paida she is supposed to start dialog with you. This dialog is the only chance you have to get her to join the party and escort her home. You are left with a weird situation where global flags 149 and 38 are both still zero, and that should never happen unless you Dispelled Magic on her but didn't get the dialog.

The easiest fix for this would be to set game.global_flags[148] to zero with the console and cast Dispel Magic on her again. The only other way would be to manually start dialog with her from line 70 using the console, and that is a bit tricky.

As for the items, the easiest solution there is to turn on Humble NPCs, sell the items, buy back whatever you wish to keep and then turn Humble NPCs off again. You can manually change the flags for each item, but that is rather tedious and time consuming.

    Thanks, Cerulean.

    I won't. That's against my playing style.
