That was IWD2. Great hack&slash game, better written than ToEE and a fun semi-D&D engine. No BG 1&2 style NPCs and not a patch on Planescape's writing, but good for what it was.

There are 8 robes for each of the temples in chests on the ground floor of the temple, and all the priests have thier own robes as well but only part with them when they die.

Well, I think I've found them ... but since that was some time ago, I didn't remember air temple robes ... must check again.

I read somewhere that if the characters wear the robes, they can actually talk to members of the individual temples ... so I wanted to try that. But yesterday the party killed some bugbears and a high priest of the air temple, so I was wondering what he might've said if the parts had worn them (the robes, I mean) ...

Kelno's actually kinda funny - he has a rather disgusted, sorta resigned-to-his-fate attutude. It's definitely worth hearing what he has to say at least once...

Kelno will talk to you whether or not you wear Air Temple robes.

    Easter-Egg ?

My party has met a bunch of Adventurers going south to a harbour town, going to a statue of a god (?) which has "two gems as big as your heads".

    Their names were :

    Ikia,
Vincent Visionenmacher (apparently "visionmaker" in English; the name sounds German, since I'm playing the German-language of the game)
    Ogavick
    Non
    Neukoln

The person called "Neukoln" has an interesting name. I don't actually know whether this name is translated as well, but it could be of German origin.

    And this is why :

Köln is the German name for the town Cologne, known for example for its "Eau de Cologne". It actually originates in Cologne. Everybody knows it here (I'm living near Cologne).
"Neuköln" however literally means "New Cologne", similar to New York".
There actually is a quarter / district in Berlin that has the name "Neuköln". I've been there, too (I know Berlin for several years now, going for a week on vacation every year).

So I wonder what origin this name might actually have. And whether I've found an "Easter-Egg" or not. ;)

If it was included by an translator ... I don't actually know how much "Umlaute" like ä, ö, ü are supported by the TOEE program. "Neukoln" sounds as if the "ö" was turned into an "o".

Sometimes English-language games don't properly support German Umlaute.

It is an easter egg, though I'm not sure on the name origins.

They are the characters pictured on the 1st edition of the player's handbook, prying gems the size of a human head out of the eyes of a statue.

A quick Google reveals Neukoln as a song title on the David Bowie album "Heroes"....?

    Right : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuköln
And it also says what I wrote above. :D
As the Wikipedia article says, Neuköln is still an quarter with a high number of Turkish citizens.
Cologne itself has such a quarter, too.

A hill giant as a friend. Nice. :) I like that - monsters are not only standing there meant to be "cannon fodder". ;)

With his help I could finally defeat the mage next door ... well, not exactly next door. The one with the golden sphere, I've forgotten his name (I've actually got an awful bad memory for names, sorry for that).

Is there any way to get the hill giant "talked" out of the group - without any fight ?

No, once Scorpp leaves he will attack you if you try to recruit him again. IIRC Oohlgrist (the Troll Chief) also does the same thing.

Hm, strange, because Scorpp attacks the party *because* he is said to leave. He won't go without fight. At least yesterday this was the case.
