    Okay, thanks. :)

    I've had a rather weird question :

The potion and the scroll contain the spell "Healing" (or an equivalent of that).

Does there exist a *real* spell called "Healing" which does have the same effect on Bing ?

There certainly is, but as it's a 6th level Cleric spell (castable by clerics of 11th level and higher) and a 7th level Druid spell, it's impossible to cast without removing the level cap (and for the life of me I can't think how we used to do that :()

[EDIT] I could help you turn your regular install into a 'toffee' install, which would allow you to use the Frontend loader for ToEE, which (among other things) allows you to change the level cap, alter the max number of PC's in your party, coose between different portrait packs and more.

This is kinda tricky though, so If you want assistance, I'm in the IRC room now (there's a Java chat room in the "Chat" drop down menu), where I can talk you through it.

Allyx, aren't there some utilities in the root ToEE directory for those who don't use the Front End? A PC Count patcher and a level cap remover?

Also, isn't the level cap removed in Co8 5.0 by default?

Yes indeed. The level cap has been removed by default since at least 4.0.0, maybe even with 3.0.4.

The non-Front end install of 5.0.0 does come with the PC Count Patcher 2, enable/disableintromovies.bat, Humble NPCs and Max HP, all in the ToEE root directory.

Did we use the Staff of Life from Mother Screng's shop? It casts Heal.

I used the potion and I'm very glad it worked ! :)

But now I've got another question : I'm trying to battle the undead ones in the cellar of the moathouse ... but my party does no damage at all !

What did I do wrong ? Overloaded them ? Gave them the wrong weapons ?

Zombies have damage reduction vs bludgeoning and piercing damage. Try slashing weapons.

Just a helpful word of advice, if you ever find yourself unable to damage an enemy, start clicking on the links that report damage. If you're seeing something like "zombie takes 0 damage," you can click on the link to see how much damage you're actually doing, and what abilities (e.g. damage reduction/piercing) the enemy has to mitigate your attacks. If piercing doesn't work, try something else, like bludg, or slashing. This same principal applies to elemental and magical attacks.

Oh, I never realized I could actually click on that !

That's the drawback of an PDF manual : There are so many points and details I just lose sight of ...

*sigh* Now I know why my party never made any damage : I had as a personal standard the "stun damage" (I call it this way) turned on, which actually acts as a kind of malus ... It's actually -4 to every attack roll, I suppose from my look into the dice roll window.

I interpret it this way : To stun a being, one has to be far more careful in order just to stun and not to kill a being. Thus this malus. But a successful roll is used to a fiull extend to a creature as pure stun damage !

Now I'm gonna be a bit more careful in what I chose ... ;) :bored:

Non-lethal damage has it's moments, as anyone who's gone to see Meleny's dad after she has died will tell you. ;)

One final bit of information for the Original Poster (OP)), is that your druid/cleric has to have a high enough wisdom to cast certain spells. Their Wisdom has to equal 10 + (spell level). Heal is a 6th level spell, so requires a 16 or greater wisdom.

    A nice, thanks. :)

I've found an oddity today :

I had given every party member the capes / cloaks from the chest in the moathouse. I mean the black ones with the yellow thing on it.

At one point, I was back in town (Hommlet) with having these things in the inventories of the party, including Elmo.

I sold a few gems at the local gem-maker.

To my surprise, I found one of these cloaks suddenly in the inventory of the gem-maker ! And Elmo's was missing !

Did Elmo actually sell it ? I don't know. But I've never seen an NPC selling things either. So far I have never encountered a game in which this was possible, so if Elmo's AI really did this, then I'm fairly impressed.

If not ... then, how did this happen ? Did I have a blackout or what ? ;)

This is how NPCs work in the game. They automatically take their share of money/items when you loot something, and later sell it to the first merchant you talk to. When a merchant says something like, "wait a minute, this customer was here first", they are referring to the NPCs in your party.
