I blame the Zombie signpost, not that it is actually causing the crashes, just that blame has to be placed somwhere, and that's as good a place as any. :)

Well its the first thing that came to my mind, because it is the new thing: nothing else that I know of has been changed on the Nulb map.

O that and the Corsair... :nervous:

I recently installed iTunes 7.0, I hope it has nothing to see...

    Anyway, it says:

The instruction "0x2112ddba" makes reference to the memory in "0x01c27638". Memory can´t be read.

It´s a translation from spanish, not sure if it´s totally accurate.

    I hope that helps¡¡

When I did the Corsair, I had to resector one of them, however it has not been included in the Cumulative patch at this time. So unless you have added it to your install, it should not be causing these crashes and did not cause crashes when I beta tested it.

By the way, the .NET Framework version I installed was .NET Framework 2.0 Redistributable Package (x86), not sure if that´s the one I should have downloaded.

    Re: Nulb crash

OK - thanks for all the advice so far. You guys have been real patient with my whiny a**. So here is my plan (let me know about flaws)...

    1. Remove the NUMEROUS scratches on my Play CD caused by my parasite...err...kid using toothpaste and a a cotton swab, then washing and using a thin coating of vasaline.
    2. Using ISORecorderv2RC1 to create ISO images of both discs.
    3. Use Virtual CloneDrive (which I am familiar with having used it for MechCommander), I will mount each disc under a separate drive letter (for example G and H).
    4. Launch the Install clone (drive G) so it launches the install start up (i hope!)
    5. Begin install process into my J:/Games hard drive and pray the disc I polished works...
    6. Once install, add in Atari Patch 2, then Co8 latest patch with Co8 FrontEnd.
    7. Point the auto-created FrontEnd shortcut to the virtual CD drive H (aka the Play Disc)
    8. Launch and never, ever, ever Quicksave or Autosave again...
    9. Win this biach!

Please let me know if you see any flaws. My biggest concerns are "pointing" the installed program "to" the virtual drives...and not being tempted to make druids (the Atari buglist on this site makes it sound like druids are severely screwed...)

Also - any chance that detect spells will be enabled again (they are disabled by the Atari 2 patch)...?

    Re: Nulb crash

Well, its all physical. My Play disc is scratched beyond belief - and was pretty bad off when I bought it used...

I tried some regular polish and no luck. Last check with CdCheck showed 3 CRC errors. It may also explain the Nulb crash - if the CD was trying to access that part of the disc.

My next step is either toothpaste or Brasso or 2000 grit sandpaper. Some of the scratches are fairly hefty, and I noticed that several are parallel to the tracks..bad. Also, one happens to cross over that strip on the inside hold edge - I hope that doesn't make it unrepairable.

Once (if) I get this fixed, I've learned how to make disc images and mount them to virtual CDs...which is something I'm going to do for a lot of games (such as Battlefield 1942, of which I play a mod very regularly...it would be nice to cut down the map loading check time against the CD...having it run off the hard drive will be cool).

wish me luck - or send me a link to a cheap download - some of these clowns want $45 for a download version...riiiiight.:aaaa:

Or you could try your local stores for a new copy. I got mine in a three-game pack, which basically cost ten bucks (different currency and whatnot, but that's what I'd say it all translates into, ten bucks). It was called Atari ACTION TRIPLE PACK. The other two games were Magic the Gathering: Battlegrounds, and Demon Stone. I haven't tried them yet...

THe other alternative is a shop which has a CD scratch removing machine. Although it's probably cheaper to pick up a new copy of the game in a bargain bin.

That's a very old friend of an error (it used to be in the common problems thread but seems to have disappeared from there). I've fixed it in the past with the no-cd crack. Could you try applying the one for patch2 and then give feedback on whether crashes are still occuring?

    Re: Nulb crash

I just had a CTD on going to Nulb for the first time. My CD is spotless. I DID install the game with McAfee running, maybe that's a problem. I'll re-install with virus-ware de-activated.

Also, I played numerous times past the first with "Clear Game Cache on Start-up" active. I seem to remember the read-me mentioning problems with that.

Try, try again. I Love This Game!

    Re: Nulb crash

I've never had any crashes on going to Nulb, although I haven't visited the town very many times. Is there supposed to be something interesting there? I always go to Homlet when I feel like my party needs to rest somewhere else than dungeon. I've noticed though that Nulb is the only town that has a brothel. Maybe that's the attraction for those *really* into the game. But I've also noticed that you can't become a porn star like in Fallout 2. Such a disappointment (at least for my bard, who has a charisma of 15, but isn't good for anything really)...

    Re: Nulb crash

    And try, try try...

*sigh* OK - so I realized my disks are kaput and I am sick of CDs...so I bought the download version.

I have now installed everything 4 times....I have followed the instructions to a tee - copied them down and merged them with what I need to do for download copies (i.e. regedit in order to load patch 2, etc.) Error after error...

So then I realized I only had .Net 1.1. So i installed .NET 2 and my...system...slowed...down...
it seems to have stabilzed now...

But I keep getting the same @#$% problems...

    1. The custom purchase scenario with Jade Dragon or whatever the hell her name is doesn't appear...instead my unarmed naked heroes (must have been a helluva night at the tavern) end up in the streets of the city to stop the killer thief ... but no purchase caravan.

    2. I cannot access the console so I can teleport to the @#$% caravan - I hit SHIFT ~ and ...nothing...

    3. and it seems (at least during one of the installs) that the looting bug is back...

Now, I purchase the download but have no idea which patches (if any) it is loaded with...how do I check?

Also, I did not install Patch 1 first...only did the stuff required for a download version so I could install patch 2.

I spent all weekend on this. My wife says I am obsessed. HELP ME in the name of Rudd (Flan goddess of luck).

    Re: Nulb crash

I can only say that whatever the downloaded version is you should be able to patch it normally. If it's version three, it'll become version two when you patch it with the version two patch, etc....

Sorry for my ignorance, but what´s the no-cd crack that you say and what do I have to do with it?

    Thank you very much
