Psssh, Hommlet would have won if Elmo hadn't gotten himself suspended for the use of performance enhancing drugs. That, and Jaroo's coaching was horrid -- hopefully next season we get Terjon or Calmert coaching the team, their coaching philosophies are far superior to Jaroo's outdated "Balance on Offense and Defense" approach.

Oh, and what's the deal with Gremag? It was almost like he was letting opposing linemen in crush the QB.

And Rannos was relaying Hommlet's play signals to Nulb! The guy in the barn told me that the other day.

And that's not to mention that half of Hommlet's team was drunk at the pub the night before the game.

In Jaroo's defence it must have been hard coaching that team at times.
Especially that really annoying tight end cow, if I heard her say, "Don't tell me what to do" one more time I would have taken that rolling pin and ensure she can never be described as tight end ever again.

AND SINCE WHEN COULD YOU TAKE A ROLLING PIN ONTO A FOOTY FIELD ANYWAY!!!

And also remember if we didn't have Jaroo we wouldn't have our star linebackers. Although how you get away with putting a bear in a uniform and calling him a team member is beyond me.

also what was with Nulb's mascot. Correct me if I'm wrong but was that a zombie with signs nailed to him? weird.

True, trouble players didn't help Jaroo's coaching position at all, but still, I think he'd serve much better as a special teams coach.

I think the big question is, can Hommlet recruit Furnok out of retirement? If so, I wager he could still pull off the controversial "Furnok Fake." If he petitions Commissioner Gundigoot, I think there's a good chance he could be reinstated.

 Here we were having a discussion about something serious like the Rugby World Cup, and look what its become...

Getting back on track, a brief comment on how well the bookmakers know the game:

    - They gave South Africa better odds to beat England in the Rugby than they did to beat Bangledesh in the 20/20 Cricket (SA beat England 36-0)

    - They gave Portugal a 100+ start against NZ (who indeed ran up 3 figures).

    yeah well here's the full results;
England vs South Africa South Africa wins, 36-0
New Zealand vs Portugal New Zealand wins, 108-13
Wales vs Australia Australia wins, 32-20
Ireland vs Georgia Ireland wins 14-10

the Ireland Georgia game was quite good, Georgia was ahead for some of the match. I didn't manage to see to much of the RWC this weekend because I was really really drunk or hungover but I caught the replay from the second half of the AB's game which was entertaining enough from my bed in mid afternoon.

OK, I'm a rugby newb. I just caught part of the England/South Africa game on cable, and it was pretty damn good! Quick-paced and exciting.

However, putting it up against American football- as some have- is a bit like comparing apples and oranges. Though there are similarities, they're two different ball games. Rugby appears to share a very freeform style with soccer, while football is a more martial, rigid form, like stylized warfare.

I'm not a fanatic about any sport; I like many of them. Now I have a new one: if I can find more of it.

That kicker for SA would be a special teams star in the NFL!

Yeah, you're right. While rugby does have some set plays (normally used right after a break in play) often the guys are just winging it, where as it seems american football is almost all set plays.

I'd prefer something involving lightning or astroturf. It'd be more apropos.
