    Re: Co8 5.0.0 beta 1 thread

I am not quicksaving... and I checked the automap save... I have tried attacks/challenges both by talking to Hederack and by simply attacking full force (it worked on previous games--about three weeks ago). Tonight I will go back to an earlier saved point in the same game and try working my way to argue with Hederack. In the current one, Shenshock fled when attacked, so it is possible that there was a "warning"?? The intellegence of the PC first challenged is 15. Thanks!

The reason I asked about the intelligence is that when I went into look, I found a problem with the under 7 intell not summoning Iuz. But thats the only thing I found broken.

Hedrack calls Iuz on his turn in combat when he has less than 50% of his hp left. There is one of low intelligence response to his calling on Iuz that does not result in his being summoned (which will be fixed in the next CF update), and it seems the code that determines which party member responds will always choose the last PC in your party line-up (which I'm not going to try to fix right now).

It sounds to me that you are not even getting his summoning dialog. Is that the case?

Still no feedback on the Moathouse respawn - are people even getting it?

If you have reached, say, the 'Thrommel-rescuing' point and are playing a normal game (not just charging thru at high speed doing only the essentials), you should have passed all 3 triggers for the respawn: wander on down and see if it has happened :) The dialogue that tells u it is going on is incredibly cunningly hidden, but not essential.

Blue... I've experienced the same thing under 5.0.0 beta with the cumulative patch as of the two weeks ago (June 12th?). I now have the patch from a few days ago (28th?) but have not gotten to that battle yet.

What happens is that the Iuz summoning never happens. I had taken Hedrack down well past 50% HP a couple of times (he healed himself) and wiped out the rest of his group trying to get him to summon Iuz. Even took him down to single digits and kept waiting for it but it never happened (thought it was a number of rounds issue).

I got it under the patch from around June 12th - unless you changed it. Good battle by the way. :D

If/when you do decide to fix it, check the code for the broken tower brigand leader. I know Liv mentioned making sure he spoke to the party leader.

I commented on it when I went through awhile back. ISTR my only issue was the placement of one of the baddies made it difficult to attack them.

You might want to hide it less cunningly, otherwise the only folks that are going to back to the moathouse are the ones who know it respawns.

Ted, the respawn works fine and is fun. I agree that it may need to be brought to the players attention. Maybe even in an encounter similar to the way Thrommel's knights greet the player-- ie. "we've been looking for you everywhere, the citizens of Hommlet are frightened. Please come to their aid . . . " something like that for good parties -- of course different for evil parties.

Hunter is correct. I never found the "cunningly" hidden message telling me to go back. I went back because I knew that it would respawn and was curious about it. But I never found any mention of the new inhabitants at all.

I got the dialogue message to go back and clear the moathouse. After you do things like the Fish Story quest, clear the Tower Ruins, and kill the hill giant you still have to go around and talk with people where, if you have played the game before, you might not go back around and talk with people.

My Perform Skill claims to have a -2 modifier because I don't have Thieves Tools (I do actually). I think it really means to complain that I don't have a music instrument.

Casting Magic Weapon on Lareth's Staff of Striking still gives you +200 hit and +200 damage bonus.

Casting Magic Vestment on items (like a farmer's shirt or a hat, or even a ring) lets you add Craft Magic Arms and Armor and add Silent Moves for a permanent, free +3 armor bonus. You can also do some interesting things like increase the bonus on Purple Elven Chain mail to +3 (so it becomes 8 armor, +4 dex limit); although it will falsely claim that its 11 armor +4 dex limit.

Whatever you do, don't eliminate the current hook. Zorn Studios has done some excellent work in that area. I suppose you could add another pointer or something.

Ahhh but I will, when I fix that dlg you brought to my attention (u and 50 other people ;) On my to do list!) But the cunnlingly hidden message was Cujo's idea, and a damn good one at that: it was always gonna b part of the 'witch with a reward' scenario. Speaking of which, do people find the reward horribly overpowered? We can reduce the charges if so.

I have found the problem that is causing Hedrack to not summon Iuz. It is an easy fix. I have now found a problem with not getting the dialog with Hedrack when escorted to him by the elemental high priests. This one is a lot more tricky. When I have it resolved I will post both of them, and update the Cumulative Fixes.

Cerulean the Blue is a master! Thank you for finding the Gods-spawning issue. I wanted to start a new game in any event. As for the tricky dialogue--it is a good one, and the extra challenge, not to mention kicking around in areas already cleared, makes things all the more fun.
