How many PCs do you have in your party? If you have more than 5, the game will CTD regardless of which book you use.

The Cumulative Fixes have been update to include:

    Cuchulainn's new opening menu.

    rufnredde's giv-dir-fix.

A little something Lord Spike asked me to do for him.

@Kalshane: I will look into these. The bugbear's in the back rooms not entering combat has happened to me before 5.0.0, but I will still look into it. The Hedrack\Iuz\Cuthbert fix is mine. In my testing I have never had combat not re-innate after the Iuz dialog, but I will check some more. Cuthbert still sometimes doesn't deliver his lines, or Iuz doesn't respond, but it doesn't happen as often now. I will work on it some more. I have to get my party down there first.

    Re: Co8 5.0.0 beta 1 thread

I fiddled all that stuff so Ron could butt in and make comment on the appearance of his personal diety and said diety's arch-nemesis. Did you have him in your party Kalshane? And did he have anything to say?

Blue, if this is my fault let me know and I will fix it. I did give them a darn good testing though.

O and u can test it anywhere, just spawn Hedrack and smack him round a bit... not ideal, but it should work.

Update on the bugbear/ogre issue: Kalshane, the bugbears and ogres have different day/night standpoints. If you get there during one period, there are only 4 bugbears in the central chamber, and the rest in in the side chamber. If you get there during the other period, there are only 5 bugbears in the side chamber, and the rest are in the central chamber. The ogres switch between the central chamber and the room with the ogre chieftains. They all seem to be where they are supposed to be, depending on which time period you enter in.

If the ones in the side room aren't reacting, dare I suggest a scout be added?

Not specifically by you, Mr Blue, I believe there is a certain modder from across the atlantic who knows how to do it and has too much spare time on his hands...

    Re: Co8 5.0.0 beta 1 thread

I know. Sorry if I made it sound like it was a 5.0-only problem. I'm aware that the game has consistently had problems with stuff like this. I just wanted to mention it.

I am annoyed that all my efforts to give creatures the correct Spot and Listen scores has resulted in them still being just as oblivious as before.

I already had a cleric and NPCs annoy me (even with Humble NPCs on, the fact that if an NPC is the nearest character to loot/another NPC/a door/whatever you have manually select a PC to do the task instead of being able to have the entire party selected. And heaven help you if there's only enough space for one character next to the thing you want to interact with and the NPC is it.) so I didn't pick him up.

Okay, thanks CB. I've never seen them anywhere but in the main room before. Huh.

    Another bug:

The Balor Death Throws doesn't fire off. The animation goes off, but no damage was dealt to my party by either the Balor Guardian or the secondary Balor it summoned dying.

Also, has the Balor Guardian ever had a voice? I know the other three guardians do, but I can't remember if the Balor ever did. There was no sound with his dialogue, which struck me as odd, but now I can't remember if there actually was sound in the past.

Finished the game. My party was 14th level by the end (well, my item crafting cleric was 13th) Zuggy went down pretty easy. She summoned a Glabrezu, but she never summoned her fungi hordes, thankfully, so I didn't have to deal with massive lag while fighting her. Plus my sorceress actually made her damn Will save against fear, so I was able to keep pounding Zuggy and the Glabrezu with Empowered Cone of Colds, which helped a lot.

    Re: Co8 5.0.0 beta 1 thread

You can test Ron's stuff by spawning Hedrack, but the reason the Cuthbert/Iuz dialog doesn't always happen is due to all the other enemies around in that room at the time Cuthbert appears. I may have to go all the way with the StopCombat script when Cuthbert appears, but my testing indicated that the half measure was enough. More testing to be done.

[EDIT] The Vrock Spores are in the script. If they are not executing for your install, I don't know why. I'm not that far yet to test them myself. I don't know where the damage from the Balor explosion is supposed to come from. It's not in the san_dying script for the Balor (and never has been as far as I can tell). I don't ever remember being damaged by that explosion in the past, just hearing other people talk about it.

    Re: Co8 5.0.0 beta 1 thread

I don't think the number of enemies makes a difference, CB. When I was testing my changes to Iuz, Cuthbert would sometimes show up facing Iuz, in which case they'd have their full dialogue and other times he'd pop in where their backs were to each other, in which case he would yell "Iuz!" and simply stare off into space. There were no other characters around. Just Iuz, Cuthbert and my party.

Another possible bug: I think the Balor Guardian may have a different faction from the Efreeti that fight alongside him. The BG charmed my barbarian, who promptly ran over to one of the Efreeti and killed it. The other Efreeti moved menacingly towards the Balor the original had summoned, but didn't live long enough for me to see if they were going to start fighting.

When we had issues with the baby Balor in DH (such as it was) Cujo and I both went hunting for the explosion effect - we never did find the trigger, it must be hard-coded. The graphic effect trigger is in there somewhere, but its not the problem of course.

    Re: Co8 5.0.0 beta 1 thread

The faction problem most like does exist, probably with all the other elemental companions with the other guardians as well. I will work on that.

Most of the time it is the other enemies. The problem is that combat doesn't always stop for dialog like it should. All it takes is one enemy not getting that and combat doesn't stop. Sometimes that enemy is Iuz himself. The reason Cuthbert is facing the wrong way is that the next combat turn is starting before the script that creates him has a chance to fully execute, thus it never finishes and rotates him to face Iuz.

I like the new and improved Iuz and Cuthbert. If you have the situation where they don't finish their dialog, try drawing Cuthbert into the battle. He kicks Iuz's ass. Of course, if you draw him into the battle by attacking him, he then proceeds to kick your party's ass once all the other baddies are gone. Sometimes you even have to hit him twice with the alldie() script to take him out. I know it is a bug in your eyes, Kalshane, but I like the unarmed attacks they throw in. It adds flavor.

I edited my above post with info about the Vrock spores and the Balor explosion.

    Re: Co8 5.0.0 beta 1 thread

I have a sneaky suspicion that the cumulative fixes aren't happening for me. The latest one is 905KB.RAR file, in the ToEE main. I don't know what a RAR file is and is there a quick way to test if the fixes are in and working. I think i'm missing something or doing something wrong. A little detailed advice/help would really be appreciated.

An RAR file is a cabinet like a zip file, you have to unpack it. Download WinRAR, either Google it or search around here, there was a link given not long ago.

    Re: Co8 5.0.0 beta 1 thread

You'll need WinRAR to open the updates from Blue if your version of WinZip is an older version.

When you installed the Co8 5.0.0 MOD, if you deselected the first option in the list window [unchecked the checkbox option for Agetian's ToEEFE], in Blue's update you have to rename the Co8-5.0.0 folder to ToEE before copying the updates to your game folder. Otherwise, Agetian's ToEEFE is installed and the only thing you need to do is copy the files to the game folder for it to work.

However, in both cases, it is a good idea to delete all of the files with the PYC extension in the script folder BEFORE playing the game with the new updates - the scr subfolder under the data folder, the data\scr folder with the PYC files.
    * Scroll through the list in the scr subfolder to the last of the spells with the PY extension. You'll see a long list of files with the PYC extension after files with the PY extension. Delete all of those PYC files [not the PY files]. Then, start your game.

On the 4th level, the guy who walks between the room with Hedrack and the Commander of the Troops room is goes from wearing armor to being nakid when he enters combat, that is, until someone hits him and his armor appears as worn.
