Try the drivers from VIAARENA for your computer.

Specifically, for your computer, go to this web page. click this <--- there

Use these motherboard drivers: VIA Hyperion Pro Driver Package

Look for reference to this as needed, regarding motherboards.
    * K7 chipsets: KT400, KT400A, KT600, KT880, KM400, KN400

You also might want to download Omega video drivers for your nVidia card, instead of the manufacturer drivers from nVidia. Before trying the Omega drivers, turn off video acceleration and other optimized settings for your video card.

Omega drivers are strictly made for games and software performance, not just video benchmarks, and sometimes Omega drivers for nVidia video cards solves problems seen by nVidia video cards using nVidia drivers. It is something to try when you cannot run a game using nVidia drivers.

Last Effort: You can also disable both the video BIOS caching and disable the memory BIOS caching in the BIOS settings. If you know how, you could also change the IRQ used by the video card to an IRQ not used by anything else as long as it is set to 11 or lower.

fyi - I was using a brand name addon 32-bit audio card on a computer. It was not a 64-bit or a 128-bit card; it was just a medium quality 32-bit audio card. To get ToEE to run on that computer, I had to remove that audio card and uninstall its audio drivers and software. Once the addon audio card, drivers, and software was removed, ToEE ran just fine.

[EDIT] If you have not tried these, try them now.
    (1) Turn off [disable] any screen saver that is set to run, especially if it is to run as a service or is a downloaded application.
    (2) Turn off [disable or exit] any program that is not needed for your Windows to run.
    (3) Turn off, disable any hard disk partition monitoring software you have and use.

Those Omega drivers are too old... they dont see my graphics card.

What will happen if i disable that? I never played too much with BIOS because i didnt want to screw up my pc.

I think the audio is the reason. I will try today start ToEE on my older pc:
    P2 800Mhz
    Geforce 2 MX
    256MB
    Maybe it will work.

Here it is in layman terms. The status for these two are enable and disable. They should be over/under each other on the same page. By turning these off, you are telling the computer not to place certain information in memory. You would think it slows a computer down, but it can actually make a computer be more stable with some programs.

Tested it on my older pc and it works... but after a while (talked to the armorer, sold something and wanted to move) it CTD without error. Strange.

I'm out of ideas sorry. The only remaining possibility I can think of is some sort of corruption in your game disc.

edit: are you playing with the no-cd crack already? Might be worth a try I guess if you haven't used that yet.

Clean your CD disks ... read this.

Do a complete uninstall. Delete all of the remaining folders, including saves and characters. Reboot the PC. Reinstall ToEE, apply Atari patch1 and patch2, and install the Co8 5 MOD. Reboot the PC. Use the no-cd fix.

Sorry Havoc, that's me clean out of ideas. I've asked about but none of my techy colleagues can figure out why you're having such problems - especially with all the things you've done to try and get the game up and running.

I'm left wondering whether you can get another copy of the game and seeing whether that plays properly or not, although it would be very annoying if you paid for a game and it was something definitely related to your system. Perhaps a friend can lend you their copy which definitely does install correctly?

    Try disabling Hardware Sound Acceleration...

Control Panel --> Sound --> can't remember the name of the tab, second one i think.. --> Advanced (up at the top). Move the slider all the way over to the left.

Sounds odd, but it worked for me on some older games that kept crashing... as well as TITAN QUEST, of all things.. :D
