I saw a wierd issue. My party killed a pirate walking around in North Nulb near the houses for sale, and the old guy with the tooth problem you can help attacked my party. My party charmed the old guy after killing the pirate and used the World Map to go to Hommlet. We engaged an encounter enroot and guess who was with the party? Laugh, the old guy was with the party but was not a controllable npc during the fight. We helped him stay alive and used the World Map to go to Hommlet. He was no longer with the party. When the party went back to Nulb a few days later, the old guy was back to patroling in front of his houses and he did not try to attack the party. Is that wierd and strange, or what?
No? You charmed him so he followed your party. Charming doesn't make a controllable NPC, it just makes an attached friendly NPC. The trip from the temple or Nulb to Hommlet is far enough for the Charm to wear off. I found that trying to get Elmo 'home' from the Lamia fight after counter-Charming him. And since he isn't dead, he will respawn according to his script thingy when you are there next. Its all pretty straightforward, albeit a bit weird in parts. But you could do that 100 times out of 100 and get that result, once you understand how the game works.
The reason I thought it was wierd was because Lodriss and Pearl, when charmed, would not follow the party to Hommlet when I, puposefully, tried to get them to follow the party [drag them] just to see what would happen.
Well, they disappear along the way when the Charm runs out. Its the same thing. Had u encountered a random encounter along the way too, they would have almost certainly been there.
Ted firstly good job mate. I like your mod including the controversial DH aspect i still play ultima 1-3 also congrats on figuring out why the empor.errr i mean Cuthbert wears no clothes... any chance of us seeing a fixed 1.2.1 with AH fong and cuthbert fixes et al?? or are you going to hold off until its inclusion in co8 4.0 ???
AAARRRRRGGGGG! Paida is still a mess! How do you rescue paida without her going hostile on you? I sent my cleric into her room and cast break enchantment on her, she talked a bit, I teleported back to hommlett, took her to Valden completed the quest, but she stayed in my group! I asked her to leave, she went hostile. And I cant get her to talk about the item I need for Lila Renton!
I noticed if you go back she will invariably say, "you have changed, but not for the better" when u haven't done a dang thing wrong. Edit: As I said in the Guide, I thought about trying to fix her, but she's a complicated mess. Wouldn't know where to start.
I think this'll help Ted, I modified Paida's script slightly, so when you cast dispel magic or break enchantment she will remove the pc's from her shitlist, so she won't be hostile when you let her out of the group.
Good thinking Allyx, but the shitlist is for combat isn't it? I mean thats my impression, I don't actually understand it but clearing the shitlist is what they do to yank a party out of combat to talk init? (Edit: or is that exactly what you are trying to fix: dispelling her when in combat cause the other loony whats-her-name Coconut Pod has attacked you?) Anyway, at least u r trying <sigh>. I'll certainly try it out and see what happens. I guess thats exactly the sort of bug we should be fixing: if she IS going back to her cell when u get rid of her (as she does sometimes - and I have definitely run into Morgan back in his cell after leading him out of the Temple!) thats too ridiculous for words. I think it will mean fiddling jump points - ugh! Hey, under what circumstances do you encounter Hedrack in his bedroom? I spawned him in Hommlet to get him to bring in Iuz and Cuthbert when testing the nekked Gawds issue and he acted like he was in his room. Paida and Murraya for memory have dlg stuff which assumes he is present, so when does it happen?
I think the wandering Hedrack was one of those things Troika was going to implement but didn't. In the three years I have been playing this game ( I bought it the week it was released) I have never encountered him in his bedroom.
Could a nekked Hedrack be in the sack with the coconut flower & the cinnamon leaf? (..or W-ever TF they are...)? For that matter... Can someone also create a better defended Main Temple battle zone? Then add randomness to where Hedrack will be when the party arrives? There's another dude wandering about down there...maybe his script will give clues as to how this can be done. Ted...the difference between Naked & Nekked; the first is having no clothes on in a rather akward situation...the second is having no clothes on with mishief aforethought. Ya think Cuthbert & Iuz....?
Well, thanks to ToEEWB, adding wanderingness and waypoints is easy enough. I reckon a fight in his bedroom though where he summons Iuz (and hence Cuthbert) would be a bit weird... "our affairs are not for mortal ears, fiend of the north! and its too cramped in here" "I agree... shall we say next Tuesday on the plains of Weal? I'll bring the sausages, you bring the wet celery and the flying helmet. And ffs put some pants on!"
I Just got to the end of the DH quest and fighting the last encounter in Homlett. When trying to kill the summoned demon when i swing what looks like killing blow, I CTD I am using latest tofee with allynx's premade tofee module using ted 1.20 i think. With humble npc on and pc limit set to 6. Are you supposed to be able to kill this demon ? I know once you get him down to injuried during his next turn he will teleport out, So i was trying to do enough damage to kill him before his next turn. I think i managed a couple of times but CTDed both times.
