Heh, looks like I got tricked out by the Water Node - it's the only one with considerable XP gains. The rest of the nodes either have mostly easy monsters (Air Node), or inappropriate CRs (Galeb Duhrs, the other Elemental Guardians besides the Hezrou, etc.)
As it is, by the end of the nodes, I could have had about 60,000xp, which is 6000xp short of level 12. (I reduced my XP back by 50,000 to test this; note that this doesn't decrease the character levels, so the XP awards were "appropriate" for level 10).

Is it be possible to add some chests/boxes for rogue to loot and other containers to make the world more interactive? All the houses in Hommlet has virtually nothing to loot. After IWD/BG this feels a bit awkward especially since I'd like to play the game with a rogue in solo...

Needs a Thieves' Guild too, to sell all that stolen loot.

Sitra, if you have a vanilla game running, would it be too much trouble to level up a fighter and check the Greater Weapon Focus / Greater Weapon Specialisation bug? The former is choosable at lvl 8 but is apparently showing the text as the latter, which is lvl 12 and not implemented in ToEE. This was posted as a Co8 5.0.x bug but I suspect it was there all along.

I thought it is already quite clear. Greater Weapon Focus is indeed called Greater Weapon Specialization. It is available only to 8th level fighters and provides an additional +1 to hit with the chosen weapon. Other than the misnomer, no other problem with that feat.

Was the feat different in Vanilla???? Ah, I see that it is listed as Greater Weapon Focus in the manual, but I am sure that means nothing. So, @Ted, you are saying that Co8 can change the names of the feats?

    Hi Ted
You are in luck. I just leveled my party's fighter up to Level 8 this afternoon in Vanilla. His feats show "Greater Weapon Focus" with the corresponding +1 to hit bonus.

    Hi Ted
As Shakespeare would say "The Plot Thickens". I just reactivated my last 5.6 Beta runthrough and checked the 8th Level fighter in my party and guess what: One of his feats is listed as "Greater Weapon Focus", checking his "To Hit" modifiers shows the corresponding +1 for "Greater Weapon Focus". I don't remember if when I leveled up the fighter in 5.6 if the feat I chose was Greater Weapon Focus or Greater Weapon Specialization, but I am fairly certain that the feat I selected in Vanilla was Greater Weapon Focus.

EDIT: I just reloaded a Vanilla save and leveled the fighter up to 8th level, and the feat available was listed as "Greater Weapon Focus"

Well, I think it's for the best. It makes sense - the Hommletians are poor farmers, what would a band of adventurers want from them? How much sense would it make for everyone to have a giant cache of gold stashed away? Plus, it eliminates a lot of the munchkin ideology so prominent in Bioware games. AND there's a plenty of loot in other locations, so why bother?

Good luck with that rogue solo, you're gonna need it ;)

Actually IIRC a Rogue was the first character to successfully solo the vanilla game.

And I don't think it farfetched to have a few family heirlooms stashed around the place.

When you mean solo with a rogue and win, you mean completely solo? Or a rouge with a lot a NPCs? I cant imagine a rogue killing the balor alone.

I mean Solo, and you don't have to kill the Balor. Actually there's an awful lot you can get by without killing, and yet still plenty of XP for a soloer.

Inasmuch as the module provided some small detail about each location in Hommlet ("here there lives an aged widower and his handsome but bossy daughter" etc) this always included some small treasure and its hiding spot - a few hundred silver sown into a plough-horse collar, that sort of thing. Hommlet was reasonably well off for a farming community, not in poverty.

A poor farm community would not have a castle, or even a guard tower. A jeweler could not stay in business. The brewer is big enough to provide beer for more than one town. Brother Smith has WAY to good of a selection for a poor town. There's a wainwright AND a teamster. Homlett is likely a trading center for a larger area, though there is no market nor any livestock other than sheep.

The purpose may even be to support a military garrison of some sort at the future castle. The money for the castle certainly be from or for a poor farming community.

My guess is that would be a few items of value around, though not necessarily luxury items. Most weapons would be in the hands of their owners, to simulate their being near-to-hand for defense. A small, randomly generated, randomly located set of non-magical, but useful, items might work.
