Didn't happen - we played hard but the Turkeys won 24-0 (or was it some other disflightable bird?)

    Update
Well I have been on a sectoring frenzy, can now walk in all sorts of directions and enter buildings, go up and down floors, up and down ladders etc. Damn its good! Also managed to hack out some more dlg at work tonight (12 hours shifts do have their upside).

Still planning on a re-release on Dec 1.

Ok, sectoring is all done EXCEPT for the Church, should knock that over early tomorrow.

Hopefully the starter pack will be good to go tomorrow :)

If I were Brave Sir Robin, I'd probably hang out near the freshly dug grave with the wooden (instead of stone) cross at the head, and only at night...

Well by now you should know that 'tomorrow' from me means '72 hours tops', although it WAS up on the server on Dec 1 and was downloaded by Agetian. The Dec 1 deadline was to get it out for Sapricon's birthday so he could see some stuff thats been done with ToEEWB - HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAPRICON! :drunk:

But as the way of these things, I had no sooner started putting it up on the server and headed off to work (its 35Mb btw, theres a lot of jpgs in there!) than I thought of things I needed to tinker and things I wanted to add. A quick wander through by Agetian has also found a few bugs - thats actual bugs, not bad finding them in a completely unfinished series of maps and dialogues like this - so later today I will put up an expanded and even slightly bugtested version.

Couple more hours, trust me :gotmyatte

Looks like I came in on time ;)

    Status Report:

I've hacked in a few new characters:

    Bailiff
    Captain of the Guard
    Curate
    Innkeeper

and added to some existing ones

Nobby now has an inventory he sells you of musical instruments etc
the Guard in the Bailiff's Tower now summons a mess of the Bailiff's bodyguards to aid him in combat, and recognises when u r coming to the Tower for the first time and when you just can't take a hint
Two Swords now has her family heirloom weapons and a wide range of chit-chat finally working correctly.

I've got a rudimentary random encounter thing going - they occur in the Graveyard and Forest, nowhere else yet, and its only safe to sleep in the Inn once u have paid the Innkeeper - everywhere else is pass time only.

I've got the Curate offering healing, at different prices dependant on alignment / diety etc (and he gives u lectures if of the wrong alignment).

Got a searchable desk thingy in the Bailiff's office.

I've got a few more internal things happening, as perusers of my blog will know, such as quests now say they are in the Keep, not in Hommlet etc.

And a bunch of minor items have gone into the protos.tab.

I hope to get a little pictorial thing showing some of these onto the Gallery in the next few days, as well as a copy of Screeg's updated Keep map (with lighting and some new buildings like the Inner Gatehouse).

Well as well as getting the spider forest well under way on Allanon's map, I have finally gotten off my butt and added Screeg's latest nighttime Keep map (basically the finished one) to the gallery, along with a few other little things I have put in.

There will be an internal release of what I have done in about a fortnight, everyone who has done anything, however small or abstract, to help with KotB will get a zip of where it is at to run around on and start bug-testing some of the quests (there are more than the 2 shown in the gallery already in there ;-)) U'll need the starter pack though, don't wanna duplicate that since it is a big enough size as is.

Gallery where it has always been:

UPDATE: Lest there be any confusion about this, KotB is on hold (at my end) for a couple days while I finish my 4.1.0 duties.

Couple days? Did I say that?

Well I had to get Agetian's help for something in 4.1.0 so while I was waiting, I implemented a personal little thing in KotB...

    WE HAVE HIRELINGS!

Check out the pic below - only 5 folks in the party, but 8 blue circles! Yes, we have proper hirelings... they join for a fixed amount, hang around for a set time, DON'T LOOT and DON'T STEAL XP. They're somewhat per the module (wearing leather etc) though have more interesting weapons, and also cost more than the 1gp per day in B2, because you don't have to buy their gear. Atm they are 10gp per day, sign on for 3 days (resting time does not count toward that) and you will have to pay them every time they fight as well (still wondering what amount to set there... probably 5 gp, as a wander across a single map could involve several little combats and quickly add up). I don't know there will be a lot of treasure in KotB, so every penny will count.

Also, each time one of them dies, trying to hire another one will invoke a multiplier (though I haven't implemented that yet).

Only a small touch in the grand scheme of things, but something I really wanted to see.

And special mention of Cerulean the Blue who wrote the sign-on script, onya Bluey!!!! :drunk:

EDIT: FOrgot to mention, they fight independantly which is half the point! But unlike normal hirelings, you can't use them as pack-mules :(

Glad I could be of help there Ted, and the work I did gave me the idea for the Wand of Infatuation, which I am having no end of fun with (Giant Frogs make great pets). Glad to see you have them up and working. If you need any more help with them let me know (like what if you run into a fight and the party doesn't have enough gold to pay the hirelings).

One note though. They do count towards the summoned creature limit, which is five. The good news is Allyx and I have both successfully hacked the .dll to up that limit (I have had 27 undead attached to the party with my wand).

Oh, and the ones you can use as pack mules are technically henchmen, not hirelings. ;)
