yeah I've heard the cry "I've cheated and now my game is buggered" well I cheat I guess altho the more powerful I get the less I cheat - and I've managed to find 2 six sided dice (I had heaps of the six sided kind but they've gone AWOL) to roll up stuff if I think that it sucked the first time around. cheating is ok in my book as long as its used sparingly (I console in new items that I've made cos there's no other way to get them), and don't complain when it buggers your game.

[EDIT] maybe I should be worshiping Kord, Fharlanhn or Olidammara (like my rogues, monks and fighters do)

As has been said before, its a personal choice, like everything else in gaming. And it can be necessary to play games like this (bugs, limitations n all) "your" way.

Yes, you can use the Max HP fix in your root directory without Front End. All the fixes that were incorporated into Front End were included in their original, individual form in the non-FE install, in the root directory. This includes Max HP, Humble NPC, PC Count Patcher, and the Intro Movie Disable/Enable.

The Max HP fix is not retroactive, though. You are stuck with the hp you have rolled in the game thus far, but you will get max hp for any subsequent levels.

Are there directions for installing these fixes someplace or do they self install by simply double clicking them??

As for using the console or editors to "fix" my games I have been around the IE and other game forums since the mid 90s and thus have no doubt heard all the arguments pro and con before and in the end it is indeed a personal choice and one that I choose not to use.:shrugno: :Being_a_s ;)

I can understand that. Sometimes the game bugs though and a fix isn't readily available. Sometimes the console is the only fix ;)

Re. the fixes. Double-click and they install.

I find almost all bugs can be fixed using the "powerword:reload" spell if you have a nice selection of save games - the fact that I have managed to play all the IE games,NWN, RTK, DS,FO 1&2,Daggerfall, and Morrowind multiple times over the past decade without ever using a console command or even d/l an editor would certainly seem to indicate that its POSSIBLE to get by without them if thats your wish...;)

    Thanks for the fix info!!

    Ok here's a few more gameplay questions;

After trading cash for exp in Nulb we peeked in at the temple and discovered in our next encounter that our tank had misplaced his GREATSWORD...:scratchhe

Is it really possible this could have been lifted right out of his hands by some pickpocket in Nulb?? (we did not sleep there) He seems to have lost a rather large bag of bullets as well that we were hording is this also likely to be the work of thieves or are we looking at a bug of some kind here??

After deciding Burne was too expensive and Sporky was too low level (1) I figured we head right into the big bandit battle at the Temple and see how we did without a wizzie. (Bard, Tank, roguish tank, cleric, druid) - we got our tails whupped 2-3 times before we managed to start off with a couple good rolls and get entangle cast and then slowly took them down. A few things happened in this fight I did not really understand.

    1) Bard used suggestion on Bandit leader successfully but as soon as his turn came around he went from blue back to red with no explaination - always before any creatures charmed with that spell would act as our ally and attack our foes? This happened a couple of times in a row. Spell was successful - he turned to a blue circle but when his turn came he turned red again.

2)My barbarian/fighters turn would come up but he would be unable to do anything at all - all options were red for no reason I could understand. This would happen for a couple turns then he would get a "normal" turn then it would happen again for a couple turns - he was not showing paralyzed altho he was showing "cursed" and I could not find an explaination for the "cursed" under character conditions in game. At other times he was also showing "fatigued" but according to the in game explaination -that should only stop him from running or charging - he was standing right next to a foe and could not attack. (He also has Lareths ring of freedom of movement so the entangle should not have had any effect and this happened both in entangled areas and out of the entangle.

All in all I was pleased to get through the battle with no deaths after only a couple reloads...:peace:

There is a pickpocket in the Waterside Hostel. You don't have to sleep there to be stolen from.

Sounds like two things were happening. One, your barbarian got hit with Bestow Curse.
Second, when a barbarian's rage runs out, he becomes fatiqued. (And in ToEE it's for a number of rounds equal the rounds he was raging.) Sounds like his rage ended.

No clue what was going on with Suggestion, though. I never use the spell in ToEE, and it works differently in the PNP rules.

Ahhh looks like it was the curse that was stopping him from taking any actions...

As for the pickpocket it seems a bit odd that you could pickpocket a GREATSWORD right out of a characters hands without being noticed - the large bag of bullets seemed an odd item to lose as well - it was all the bullets available in the game to that point as no one was using them at the time we were just hording them in case we wanted them later...;)

Another oddity I just discovered was I had a masterwork breastplate and a normal breastplate and there was no difference between the two at all other than price??

I was also somewhat annoyed to discover the Katana was two handed as I bought it specifically for my greatsword weilding tank to use with a shield...

May haps you sugested him but then he made his saving throw in his turn to shake it off, or maybe he didn't like you casting engangle on him and thought he would rather not be on your side after all.

[EDIT] the katana is a bastard sword so requires EWP bastard sword to be used one handed

As far as the breastplate goes-

Masterwork items are pretty much the same (with the exception of thieves tools) except that they can be enchanted where regular ones cannot- that is the difference- and it is Significant.

Well perhaps if we find a nice magical bastard sword or Katana I will use a feat for it but it hardly seems worth it just for a "plain" one...

I bet it was that entangle spell that he had to save against every turn being considered an attack that disrupted the suggestion spell altho the spell description just says the it compels the subject to follow a course of action: subject is added as a controllable NPC. Nothing about saving throws etc...

Well masterwork weapons have an attack bonus so I assumed masterwork armor would have something that made them different like lower weight or less penalty or something. I suppose being able to enchant them is worthwhile altho no one has taken any crafting feats yet. I suppose its time to start thinking about those as we are approaching level 6 now.

Doesn't masterwork armour reduce the armour check penalty by 1? Thought they were meant to but I'm hardly a DnD rules boffin.
