Until now only the Levelup UI had the "Next" button with Prestige Classes and so on. With 1.0.30 the new character generation interface (from the Party Pool "Create" button) will have that as well, so you'll be able to take new Base classes from level 1.
I don't care it's 1:30 AM, I will play ToEE with Co8+Temple+ to build my assassin I am so happy to have such wonderful mods, and I can't imagine I was playing vanilla in the old days... Now I don't have to start NWN2 to experience some prestige classes. Happy!
I am trying out the assassin class. The only way I can get the death attack to work is if the creature is already dying, laying on the ground. I have studied the target, and got the message stating target studied, then sneak attacked the target, and it just does regular sneak attack damage. After they fall and can again attack them, and then they roll against the death attack. Has anyone been able to get this to work properly?
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/prestigeClasses/assassin.htm The key part is In ToEE this means one of three things: 1. Target is flatfooted 2. Target cannot see you 3. Target is helpless (i've added this since helpless targets might as well not be able to see you) So either you use the Death Attack as an alpha strike, or use the Assassin's other abilities, such as Hide in Plain Sight or Invisibility. Also IIRC facing matters here. I'll add some feedback in the rolls history window so it's clearer why it fails.
My fault- I misread the Supported Configurations section when I was looking to submit a runtime error report. Having just looked at that thread I see my problem might be in not having the latest Direct X version- I'll have to check my system to see what it is I have...
Just wanted to add my voice to those who have found this game anew because of the work Co8 and SA have done. I've bought this game three times now, including when it first came out, and this is the first time I've truly enjoyed it. When I consider that there are mods being made that will expand on it... Well, I get a little misty. Thanks, is what I'm ineloquently saying.
I am liking the Prestige classes and am looking forward to the Arcane Archer and am having fun with the Dwarven defender and my Theurge (Human, Ftr1,Wiz3,Clr3, now theurge2) is proving to be a GREAT support character
I'm having difficulty activating Death Attacks with my new assassin. He approaches his victim under the cover of Greater Invisibility, activates 'Study Victim' and the 1, 2 and 3 round floaters duly appear. However, while the radial menu option for 'Death Attack' s present, including the extension for the paralyse option, the 'Death Attack' option is not clickable (i.e. I can't select the option on the menu- I study my target, get the 'target studied' response after the requisite time, and then spend a hurried 10 seconds or so of real time trying to select via the radial menu, and then I get the expiration floating message). My assassin generally does enough 'ordinary' sneak attack damage in a round for this not to matter too much, it would be nice to see it in action just for the flavour of it. Any ideas?
After a target has been studied, it's just a matter of landing a sneak attack on it while it can't see you. You don't have to click the Death Attack action (that menu is just for toggling Paralyze).
Don't know if this is a temple+ thing, or toee/Co8. Just rolled up a gnome bard, and discovered that the character starts with one each of the martial weapons for which a bard has proficiency (shortsword, longsword, longbow, shortbow, rapier) in her inventory.
