    the 0 bug

I've run into the same problem when wielding fraggy and scather,
however my character is chaotic neutral (no unlimited attacks only one freebie)
my problem comes when something is able to hit my figher (be it a goblin, ogre, npc (any location not only the nodes)) the same bug (stuck on enemy turn with nothing the the time meter) as you guys have described appears
and no i can not "enter" past it because it happens during the enemy turn (have to alt tab of F4 out of the game)

i am sure that this did not happen before (only offical patches 1,2)
i had some old savegames form when i first played the game and tryed loading them (also had both swords) it also produced the same problem

i am using liv's 1.5.1 and i did not run into any other problems with liv's mod
    PS
    Great job Liv

    PPS
if anyone is wondering how i got both swords in liv's mod (cause it seems to me she fixed getting scather by reward after you swiped fraggy)
just frag the reward party and loot it from the paladin (or knight whatever is he)

    Re: the 0 bug

the way to get out of the situation where the game is stuck in 0-action mode is to enter the character's inventory and use an item like a potion. the game will then go to the next person's turn.

Clerics have no more problems casting spells with a sword in hand than a mace. Also, speaking as another vetran of 1sted, the whole "clerics can't use edged weapons" thing was always a bad idea, and I was glad to see it dropped.

As to the HP/AC issue, a 3.5 ed Cleric will only average 1 HP lower per level than a fighter (a bit more if you skimp on CON), and he'll have the same AC. Once you pile on the buffs, he'll have a many or more HP, more STR, and a higher BAB. He'll also do more damage per hit above and beyond the extra STR damage (Divine Favor, Enlarge Person, Divine Power, Righteous Might). The only real advantage the Fighter has comes from well chosen feats.

Clerics are overpowered in 3.5. ;)

Clerics can use swords now? I never realised. Wondered why they came standard with a crossbow... thats perverse... I assumed the 'take MWP Greatsword for my cleric' was precisely because they COULDN'T use swords without spending a feat.

That makes clerics not just overpowered, it makes them basically spell-casting tanks. That's silly. Why have maces etc at all, other than as novelties?

Clerics can use swords if they take a MWP with that type of sword, or get one through the War domain. They generally do need to spend the feat.

And yes, Clerics are now spell casting tanks.

You know actually, in 2nd edition a cleric of a specific deity could also use swords, or whatever weapon they're God allowed. Your standard general cleric of course could only use bludgeoning weapons, but as was mentioned before, it was a balancing thing. Cleric's of specific deity's also had to balance out, for example, a God which allowed bows and spears might only allow up to studded leather armor or something like that. It can even be argued that Druids were actually clerics of specific deity's but in this case theyre deity was nature, thus they could use scimitars and shapechange but lost the ability to wear any armor or turn undead, once again, it was all about balance...something 3.5 apparently didn't take too seriously. Also, the whole fighter vs cleric thing, the fighter BAB is much better than a cleric's, which mean's he get's multiple attacks per round at a lower level...something to take into consideration.

In 3/3.5 anyone can use any weapon. If you don't have the proficiency, however, you take a -4 penalty. That's also true about armour (in that you take the armour check penalty to attack rolls) - though I haven't tried it in ToEE to test it out. This is a departure from 2nd Ed games where if you didn't have proficiency you couldn't use it. Technically, though, even in second ed, you could use any weapon, but there was a class-based non-proficiency penatly - which was particularly high if you were a wizard.

The new rules are particularly handy, though; with fragrach, I have given to my Monk, seeing as how she does such pitiful damage, and whacked up Power Attack, meaning the attack penalties become negated. Another point worth noting is that if you don't have Bastard Sword proficiency, you can use a Bastard Sword as a martial weapon two-handed. In fact, I decided against giving Elmo Two-Weapon combat and both Fragrach and Scather, as the loss of damage from reduced Power Attack made overall damage less; again because two automatic hits made the second attack's reduced bonus irrelevant.

I *do* have a Monster's in front of me (mainly because I'm supposed to be quest writing, do pratting around on forums, but never mind).

Hezrou are CR 11 demons, with av average of 138 hits and a maximum of 173 at 10HD. However, they can go up to 30HD, which would give them a potential maximum of 573 hits. Of course, this would give them 7 extra feats, 5 extra stat points, +8 Str, -2 Dex, +4 Con, +3 Natural armour (size increase to Huge), ramp up the save DC for Stench to 26 and boost their attack bonus by +15 or +20. (This last is dependant on whether you're using the MM3.5 rules or taking into account Epic rules, which say that everybody's attack bonuses increase at Epic rate (+1/2lvls) after 20HD. they said somewhere that this doesn't count for some monsters, but I think that's because they forgot to do it to dragons, which have the sort of ridiculos BAB that they were trying to avoid...)
Thus a maxed out Hezrou is well-within the limit of the game, even tame, as I don't think the Heztou has got an attack bonus of +25 or more. Thta said, a maxed out Hezrou is CR 21+. They also can technically only summon 4D10 dretch of another Hezrou

    For reference, a Vrock is CR 9, 115 hits, a Balor CR 20 and 290, a Marilith CR 17 and 216, a Nalfeshnee Cr 14 and 175 and Glabrezu Cr 13 and 174 hits.

When it comes to Clerics, exactly. However, I'd have rather seen a slower THACO progression or lower HP than rather than equipment restrictions as a balancing tool. Just personal pref.

Well, kind of. In ToEE the fighter gets his extra attack at 6, the Cleric at 8. The Fighter's biggest advantage is the ability to pile on feats like Combat Reflexes, Cleave, Great Cleave, Whirlwind Attack, etc. They'll end up giving him many more extra attacks than he'd get from BAB. BAB also isn't much of an issue for Clerics; self buffs starting with Divine Favor bring the Cleric's BAB up to match the Fighter's, and the higher level BAB buffs can actually grant extra attacks.

The Fighter/Mage may have been gimped a bit in 3.5, but Clerics have been given a huge boost.

I think the whole cerics-using-swords thing goes back to 1st edition with the advent of clerics of Trithereon, the Summoner. They could use broadswords, spears, and got tracking skills like rangers. And don't forget that the blunt weapon rule was always a humans only thing; other races were never limited as to choice of weapon. They just couldn't go past a certain level.

If you mean dual wield both i had this problem as well. If you have the proto editor you can use it too avoid this. i made the sword have a huge to hit bonus and +4 enchantment bonus.

personal message me if you need directions

    Re: Alignments

Oddly enough, Elmo's alignment is not given in T 1-4. Otis is said to be NG. However, I always thought Elmo was CG. Maybe someone here has the T-1 module, and can say definitively...?

I got the module and checked, its not mentioned. Peculiar.

Elmo sure gets the full benefits of Scather though in the game.
