I'm all for DMs doing their own things in their games. Half of RPGing is coming up with house rules. However, when it comes to something like a computer game, it's best to stick with the official rules as close as possible.
Kalshane, the Pishella stuff is all in so hopefully I will get the patch done tonight then u can start hacking
Shiny! Did some more testing. When I used suggestion on the bugbear, his stats showed the armor was affecting his skills. However, his skillpoint totals and saves (it was using only his ability modifiers for his saves) were different those listed for him in the protos.tab. Most perplexing. I might have to try to coax one into tumbling for me after all. The bugbear also suddenly leveled up while making repeated save attempts against the suggestion spell. That's a head scratcher too. I decided to go with it and give him more XP until he was 4th level so I could see his ability scores. They matched those listed for him in the protos. Also when I had my party attack him, he showed up in the logbook correctly as a CR 6 creature, so it took into account he had leveled up beyond his listing in the protos, which was kind of nifty. On a whim, I created a bugbear in the Welcome Wench, just to see what would happen. The bugbear appeared, combat music started, everyone took their combat poses and then nothing happened. I walked out the door and the combat music still played. I walked back in, everyone standing around ready to fight. So I finally hit C to enter combat mode and the entire inn became hostile against me. Wierd, but not really worrisome since people aren't going to make bugbears appear out of thin air in the normal course of the game.
Sorry dude, my copy of ProtoEd packed it in - did a reinstall and still not working. Dunno what it is, but obviously things have ground to a halt this end. Hate to do this to u at prime modding time (aka "weekend").
That sucks. Are you going to be making any changes to the InvenSource.Mes? If not, I can at least start applying the proper armor to the bugbears and then fix their stats later. Proto-Ed for me always corrupts the file if I use any of the sorting functions. Reinstalls and upgrades haven't helped. So to use it I have to leave the fields as is and use "Find" to navigate around. Makes the ToEEWB much more appealing, for sure. (Even if it's corrupted my protos once already.)
Out of boredom I'm going through and adding descriptions for various magic items that don't have them. I'm hoping no one has an update to long_description.mes on the way...
well it won't matter if someone has, cos the numbers corespond with the numbers in the decriptions.mes you'll only have to worry if someone changed the protos
Yes we do have an update to long_description.mes, sorry But it will just be a cut-n-paste for ya I'll get back to u on InvenSource.mes. Anyways Pishella is completely finished as are my other voice things, I am just putting in Gwythur's stuff now. Hack, roll into patch, reinstall, test, fix problems with patch (there is always one!), cup o' tea, lick of paint... few hours Edit: Or not... hit another major snag just as I finished Gwythur's stuff (nothing to do with it btw). Sorry Kalshane I know this is a pain, but I wanna get this right before releasing it.
Worth a new reply - the patch is done, uploading it now. Keep an eye out for a new thread in a matter of moments.
Heh. I was sound asleep when you were posting the "almost dones" so no worry. What new descriptions are there in the long_description.mes that will need to be cut and pasted? Last night I put in descriptions for every magic and special material item that was missing one and didn't look like someone's personal toy. Downloaded your new mod. Will tinker around with it a bit this morning. Doubt I'll be able to do any work on updating the protos.tab today as I've got my PNP game in a few hours.
==================== As long as it makes sense to what is going on in the campaign. The rules are a base-line, the "one way" if you will; and things like what you refer to are the exception to the rule, not the rules themselves. Phasers and stun guns...or more accurately, weapons like them...abound in Expedition to the Barrier Peaks. But there, they come with limited charges that are basically expended by the end of the module so as not to unbalance the entire campaign...which as any DM of your experience knows, takes years to build & complete. This work can be undone in a single weekend of giving away cool but powerful technological weapons to your party, just as surely as giving away vorpal swords would. Mr. Gygax probably needed to have the character you suggest he had in order to take out Colonel Sanders, the Jabberwock, or King Kong. Creatures & characters that all made appearances at one time or another in a Gygax induced fantasy weekend of gaming in Lake Geneva. BTW, the barrier reef series...? Sounds like a surfing contest or something. Best not to post when you've been...well, you know...:smoke:
its the S series i think hold on will check and yeah im not talking about as the norm but as items creatures etc who for whatever reason it makes sense for 1 to exsist or be part of some campaign etc.. and yes usually limited in scope or charges or cant leave a specific time /space ... geased to remain... etc.. or in the case of a NG red dragon.. differing and slightly watered down ablitites from the more usual CE vareity..(even had a good story for that.. runt of liter.. blah blah blah..) ack its the S series barrier peaks.. and yes as it happens i do frequent half moon bay (best surfing in the world.. ) often but the associated stuff No thanks I prefer to remeber the past week..
S3, to be precise...I know it well. And don't you mean Half Moon Bay? You know, the one in California? Anyways, my bad...I didn't realize it was a ritalin issue...
