Salamanders and Giants and Gnolls (Oh My!)

It used to be considered that monsters were just monsters where humans and demihumans are great as races due to abilities and skills associated with PC levels. Then again, in that same thought, a 12th level character was very high level, legendary and revered, where a 20th level character was thought of as almost deitical. But alas, all things change.
