So what you're saying is there's no real way to tell if something is using the protos or not unless something really obvious is hard-coded into the mob file? That sucks and means there could be tons of other monsters who I thought were using my fixes, but might not be using them all because I can't test every single thing.

Okay, best guess, the Earth Elementals in the Earth Node are using the protos. The Glabrezu Gaurdian, is only partially using it, as much like the Vrock, his SR was wrong. So I'm guessing the Glabrezu and the Vrock (and likely the Hezrou) Gaurdians will all need to be spawned. Ugh.

Odd thing in the Earth node, one of the two crystal oozes seemed to be drawing from the protos, while the other wasn't. Weirdness. I guess one was tacked on later or something.

Just got the Fire Node and the battle with Zuggy left.

I just finished my latest testing tool, the Wand of Enslavement. When used, it adds the target critter to your party as an NPC ( if your party is full it adds them like an animal companion or summoned creature), no saving throw or spell resistance applicable.

"How is this a useful testing tool?" you might ask. Well, when testing whether or not the protos changes are effecting the mobbed in critters, it allows you to add them to your party without having to hope they fail a saving throw and you penetrate their spell resistance. Then you can check their feats, skills, saving throw bonuses, etc.

If anybody is interested in using this tool for testing, PM me and I will send it to you. If you just want it to play a munchkin game, make one yourself.:p

Well, if there is enough interest, I might post it publicly.

Finished the game again. Zuggy went down pretty easy seeing as her first action was to summon vrocks. They all cast mirror image per usual. On Zuggy's next action she cast fear. As my happened last play through, my sorcerer failed her save and spent the rest of the fight running for her life. (sigh) However, on the Vrocks' next turn did their Vrock screech and stunned half my party, as well as Zuggy. My Paladin, Barbarian and Rogue proceeded to unload on the stunned demon lady and took her down in a couple rounds, before he stun wore off. I cleaned up the the rest of the Vrocks, most of my party leveled up from the XP and then the game promptly CTDed trying to load Zuggy's death movie. *headshake* It might have been because I was running in Windowed mode to reduce the lock-ups in the fire node and never restarted the game normally when I finished. I don't think I've ever had it try to run a movie in Windowed mode before (as I turned off the startup movies).

(Edited: Yup. Running the game in normal mode resulted in no CTD when I won.)

As for the Fire Node, the Large Fire Elementals and the Balor Guardian seem to be the only ones not drawing everything from the protos.

Now that I've finished testing, I'm going to go back to tweaking things. Here's what I recall is on my plate:

    1. Flag all of Liv's NPC-only items as no pick pocket.
    2. Try to put metal shoulder pads on the metal-armor wearing bugbears.
    3. Fix the prices for Hedracks' stuff.
    4. Add the Untrippable trait to Iuz and St. Cuthbert

    Am I forgetting anything?

Other stuff I'm going to look at:
    1. Tweak Iuz's stats. Even without 3.0/3.5 stat for him I should at least be able to give him some appropriate divine traits.
    2. Adjusting the giant frogs in the moathouse to make them CR 1 again, as having them be CR 2 gives the PCs a lot of XP right off the bat, plus could result in a TPK.

Anything else monster/NPC stat-related folks want me to look at?

As for the Iuz 3.0/3.5 stats has anyone tried asking on the Wizards forum? If not I would be happy to do so. If yes please ignore my impertinence.
    just my 2 cents Rawel

I know they were published in Dragon Magazine at some point, but I don't subscribe. I'd be hesitant to ask because most people don't take kindly to you asking for copyrighted material. :)

For now, I've modified his stats based on him being a half-fiend and only a demi-god. Added some extra attacks. Fixed his resistances. Added feats and skills. Upped his levels to 20 in each Cleric and Rogue (all the deities in Deities and Demigods have 40 class levels.) And gave him additional attacks.

Also, discovered that Deflection Bonus, at least, works when applied to creatures. It looks a little funny in the roll break down, but it works correctly.

    DR /Adamantime doesn't work, however.

Weird thing going on with St. Cuthbert. He wants to throw a punch from his offhand into the mix when fighting. I can't figure out where it's coming from, as he doesn't have TWF or natural attacks listed. I tried removing Black Jay's script from san_start combat, but no luck. Likewise, swapping it out for Cuthbert's own script. In the meantime I've given him a natural attack that does 0 base damage, so he no longer provokes AOOs when he does it (yet another chance for people with Scather/Fragarach to get a free wack at him otherwise), but I can't get him to stop doing it.

The odd thing is in my Co8 SCR directory, there is only the compiled script for Cuthbert. There's both versions in the ToEE SCR directory. I even tried pulling the uncompiled file over from one directory to the other, just in case, but he still wants to punch people.

Hmm I did ask in the end and got some answers he was written up in Dragon Magazine 294, i haven't been able to find that magazine yet but another answer pointed me to this thread which has parts of the DrM article quoted in it plus a new unoffical? write up. He is quite a tank i have to say. With the cleric spells he would be much tougher.

Yeah, the new write-up looks unofficial. What the heck is a Marquis Half-Fiend, anyway? Unfortunately there's no Assassin prestige class in ToEE, but that quote from Dragon Magazine is a very good start. I should be able to work from there using Deities and Demigods. Thanks for your help.

Okay, Iuz has been updated. He is really nasty now. He also has Cuthbert's problem of wanting to throw a punch into the mix when he attacks. I don't know where that's coming from.

Is anyone planning on using protos #s 4503 and 4504? I made Iuz a greatsword based on the guillotine blade model (regular greatsword base stats though, rather than those used by the guillotine blade, +3 unholy and chaotic) and it looks incredibly cool glowing red. I'm planning on making a mace for St. Cuthbert too, instead of him wielding a spiritual weapon.

sounds like a mangled hang-over from 1st & 2nd edition - where there were 'Cambions' (a specific type of half-fiend - can't remember which sort of fiend though), one of whose ranks (depended on how powerful the fiendish parent was) was 'Marquis' - the strongest rank IIRC.

1e 'gods' sure were soft! I like this bit though:
'Portfolio', heh... sounds like a government ministry. A sub-department of the Tax Office, perhaps.

@CB can you add the moathouse Ghouls to your list?

I zapped the Moathouse Gaurdsmen, Sergeant and Lieutenant with the new toy and they're drawing from the protos as they should. (And that wand is way more fun than it should be) I'm going to have to tweak the guardsmen, though, as they all draw from the same feats, regardless of weaponry. I'm going to have to do like I did with the randomly-weaponed bugbears and give them extra feats.

You think that wand is fun, you should try my new one (I got sidetracked working on a little script for ShiningTed and came up with this one). It's called the wand of Infatuation, and adds everything in the area of effect (40') to the party as AI followers (like animal companions and summoned creatures), no saving throw or spell resistance applicable. With a little tweak to the .dll to up the summoned creature limit, I've infatuated all the undead in Emredy Meadows and have been walking around with an undead army (27 of them) that fights for me without any input from me. Well, actually I had to kill off a few of them, because the initiative bar can't handle all those plus my 4 characters plus the enemies, but it is still loads of fun. Necromancer with an undead army at her disposal.

Okay, so this wand has absolutely no testing applications, and has nothing to do with this thread. But damn it's fun.

Is this an appropriate time to jest about a heterosexual female & all those, er, uh...bones....going about all over the place? Perhaps she's auto-sexual, and doesn't need anybody else at all; at least not from among the living. Or does this make her a Necro-philiac?

    :poke:

    You know...Infatuated with the Undead?

I'd vote to add it to ed.py, if Cerulean doesn't mind of course :) Full credit will be given (no, I'm not 0rion, so I actually give credit where it's due ;) )

I've taken a look at Calmert's MOB file - it won't load because a couple properties are there which are not yet supported in WB. Could take me a while to add them since I'm not sure what exactly they are. I'll see what I can do about it in the future.
