The only alignment playable in a computer game is either "Chaotic stupid" (aka CE) or "Predicatably Good".

Roleplaying just doesnt work on a CRPG, its too structured and the creators of the game are WAAAY too narrow minded in their view of morality.

Not sure that's the cause, necessarily. Given that Troika didn't even have enough time to put monsters on level 4, it's safe to say they may not have had time to fine-tune the alignment issues in all the conversations, which would involve about ten times as much work on the dialog aspects of the game. I'm guessing they set that aside as low priority, and I'd say that was the right call if that's really how it went down.

Anyway, given what at least one of the designers said about how they would have liked more time to fine-tune the palladin falling aspects of the game, it's safe to say they were rushed and forced to prioritize.

Well I can't speak for all CRPGs but DnD has a set morality since day one. Even Basic DnD had 3 alignments. In 3.5 the alignment system has wide reaching effects from spells and magic items, and so it's more important to play what you claim as your morality. I have no problem with the system in place in either TOEE or DnD and I would say that just like in PnP DnD, role-playing comes from the way you view situations and how you react to them regardless of dialogue choices.

That being said, I will acknoiwledge that people playing the game vary greatly on what they consider to be within the spirit of an alignment. Normally that's handled by the DM in this case it's handled by the program.
