I have the same problem,I am at 7th to Verb, then just finished part of the Drow and get attacked on the way to Hommlet. I did defeat them albeit Meleny gets trashed, but the xps are wasted, sheesh 20,000+xp each, aghhhh. So you hopefully have a save game and go back to it,then use short..jumps around the map to avoid them,or use invisibility and jump out,if not reload. My party is NG.

Question is it a once trigger,ie if you are invisible or sneaking and able to exit, will they be encountered again?

Dialogue option is limited and forced..I feel it is a let down here.

Unfortunately web & SC seem the only way to weaken them, and they have +19 ATK ouch! I am thinking of a Charm/Dominate spell, hmmm.

That, I think is one of the drawbacks from playing a game for xp and not just enjoying the adventure.

Myself, when I find myself trying to figure out "How Can I Get The Most XP" I take a step back, or play something else. I personally never want to lose that feel of an adventure when I'm playing.

I, like many of us, have played this countless times and along the way we forget the adventure and turn to merely cranking out the best team to take the most advantage of the scripted experience set before us.

I guess what I'm saying is, I have the most FUN when I just play and let things happen ... Sometimes I even forget what's coming next ...

No it is not the xp thing,I am level squatting so my level is lower by about 2 levels. It is the encounter that is wasted and little dialogue option to interact with them,so just a hack and slash thing. The trigger seems to be the Castle of Lords purchase, but they should react differently depending on party actions and alignment,ie if you have the Unicorn Ring or Knight of...and high reputation(akin to IWD/BG I think),they should just ask for some gold to pass by for 'charity',or if evil with a bad rep, well, off with their heads..

I killed the Hill Giant at EM with a Level 1 party...so it is out thinking the enemy that is more fun than xps. Hmm,so try that trick??? And not cheat console.. ^_* . I want Robin to have more dialogue,or even if they turn up at Nulb in the brothel etc and not just once off thingies.

You didn't by any chance use a "Charm Animal" scroll and ranged weapons at level one, did you? ;)

I agree, that is always a great fight at an early level.

I'm usually lev 2 by the time my party hears about the meadow.

No,more sneaky than that,as you taught me hah. It is geography....and yeah ranged weapons-if you can hit the bloody thing at that level. The Bear never attacked me also..hmmm and without charm..^_* > I used charm only after killing the giant and used him to kill the skeletons at the rainbow rock.

But for Robin there needs dialogue and reputation reaction, not just MurderDeathKill(JudgeDread heh).

Still, I would of enjoyed watching that fight!

I mean, everyone in your party could be "one hit kills" from almost anything, not to mention a Giant with a tree trunk for a club.

    I bet it was exciting.

Ok,the EM has altered in the geography to the right-the ravine. I hunted the Skeletons using charge attacks to get their Xbows, and my 1st level Wiz did most crits with the staff, lol. When all dead, baring the rainbow rock meanies(gaer has to fix the -1CR of the Skeleton Guards!!!),I go to the ravine with my party and use the Druid to sneak up to the Giant. I trigger him via SM-1 which he goes for, then run like hell to the top of the ravine where Fifi my Jackal is waiting. The rest of the gang are below the ravine waiting with sling&Xbows. Ugly kills the SM-1-poor puppy, and hunts my druid. He is fast so use the jackal as decoy. Druid runs past the jackal and to edge of map where there is a path to join the party. Ugly kills jackal and stays where he is as the AI sees the party nearby but can't react due to ravine...so Ugly gets hit each round by missile until dies! I sue the same trick with rainbow rock, but use charmed bear due to Soundburst,ouch... So yeah Jack or Jill the Giant Killers.

Despite the names, I'm pretty sure they're just plain bad guys - highwaymen, basically. And their high level indicates that they have been successful, so they're probably not too interested in anything you say.

In practical terms, no one will want to encounter a rare genuine random encounter party and then not fight them/have them run away in terror/have them ask you nicely for coins. They're there to rob you. That's about it.

I suppose we may try to bump it back a little though, since people seem to run into them early fairly often.

I've somehow failed to find them the last two run throughs. I'm post-WotGS at the moment, and still haven't seen them.

    Demolition Man

Judge Dredd has been redone recently. The new one is less goofy, but REALLY harsh.

It would be interesting to see if Robin and his Merry Thugs have stats similar to those in a little discussion that posted a few years ago. I think I still have the original Dragon article from decades ago.

My group has become the municipal road wardens at level 20 (all 8 of them) and still no Robin of Loxley as they bounce from Hommlet to Nulb to Verbobonc and back again. Any way to trigger this encounter via console?
