Definitely an anachronism. And it's ridiculously accurate and over-powered. So, clearly, it's a "magical" revolver.

Crap! Does that mean I'll have to pay thousands of dollars per year just to keep it running?

You've owned VW's (or BMW's) before haven't you? Only a prior such owner could make such a statement! (myself included)

I have never owned a European-made car. My mom owned a real Beetle. Several of my friends owned Beetles, MicroBuses, Karman Ghias and Things (Kubelwagons). For cheap cars they were fine, inexpensive and easily fixed. This sort of thing ended in the '80's.

I usually buy Japanized American cars. Small, economical, boring. (I AM a college professor.)

My opinion is based on my (now rich) friends bitching about their Mercedes, Jags, Lamborghinis, Porsches, etc.

But opinion is just that: opinion. Check Consumer Reports.

Last of the de-railing posts here...

Only owned a 1987 VW Fox. My first car. Damn durable, but expensine for routine maintainence. Quite the learning experience.
