Firing into melee gives your target a +4 AC bonus (or you a -4 penalty; I forget which and it amounts to the same thing); firing through an ally at an enemy in melee gives your target another +4 cover bonus to AC; together this means an enemy with a 10 Dex will have a touch AC of 18.

If you don't want to go the PB Shot - Precise Shot route, your best options are (a) use your ray spells BEFORE the monsters enter melee with your party ... you DO have Improved Initiative, don't ... oh, you don't? Whoopsie. (b) at the very least, maneuver so that no ally is in a direct line between you and your target. That'll help.

Regarding the figurine ... have it Identified, then look at it again.

Or sell it before ID'ing it, get 70 gp or so, then buy it back ID'd for 7 cp.

Hmm, feels like it should be the case, but it looks like the game isn't treating rays as a standard ranged weapon, and the feat bonuses do not apply =(( At least that's what the dice roll window shows - for me it was class and dex bonus ONLY. For some reason, weapon finesse applied as well :doublethu

I am guessing that Precise Shot does not show as a bonus; it simply negates the penalty. Point Blank should show a bonus if the range does not exceed 30 feet.

Well, normally the game engine would write out the penalty and then add up the bonus, and here it's not showing at all; the precise shot +1 bonus isnt showing either...
