Unlike most of the players here I don't come from a pnp background so am only interested in the rules so far as they help to support the way this game works in a consistent manner. I'm not a by-the-numbers person either and I do get where you are coming from, particularly if Spot serves as a hack in this instance to implement a gameplay element.

The only problem with that method is that it forces the player to try and guess how the developer wants them to solve a particular problem. One of the things I like about TOEE is the sheer variety of options available and its catering to a variety of play-styles. For someone that doesn't want to scour the forums for a solution he or she probably wouldn't be able to guess that they need to up their spot skill whereas they probably would think about the search skill.

That's just my 2 cents anyway. Would it be possible to implement either search or spot or have the nearby servant divulge a clue of some sort?

Nice thread necromancy... seriously, you ressurrected a 4-year dead thread to complain that the work of strangers who offer you enhanced versions of a 15 year-old game is 'sloppy'?

No problem. I was a bit snappy about it.
