Prince Thrommel and other questions

You know, since it doesn't really matter if the character is proficient or not, that only becomes an issue if you are playing solo.

 

Well, I was doing a run with just two PCs. Unfortunately, my ranger happened to be CN, so he got one free AoO per round. When someone triggers it, the second sword doesn't get calculated properly, and the battle is very likely to hang at that point.

 

I usually sneak down to level 3 and rescue the princess(level 10 female paladin with Darley portrait). On the way out go and take out the will'o'wisps, Smigmal and Falrinth. Exit at the burnt farmhouse and get it on the world map. While doing temple level 1 if people are low on hp, rest in the circular stairwell. Do that a few times for 4-6 days at a time and when you leave for Hommlet it should be about time for the reward. I like the Frostbrand crafted to the max rather than Scather anyway.

 

I liked Excalibur most; was it removed from woodcutter's shop?

 

Yup. Sure looks that way. I was allowed to buy three items ( Composite Longbow: Str 14, Longbow of Frost, Dwarven Plate ) and then the woodcutter wouldn't sell me anything else. Regarding Prince Thrommel, I tried the "Teleport to Hommlet" trick and it worked once, and didn't work the second time. Oh well, I figure I will clear out the nodes and then "rescue" him when I go to take out Zuggtmoy.

Thrommel..hmmm I exited the temple and he said goodbye without travel to Hommlet and just sat there. God knows what gives?

 

I went through the dialog of saying goodbye to him outside the Temple and in Hommlet and he just stands there. He used to disappear.

 

When Thrommel just stands there it's a bug. He'll turn up again in the dungeon.Try to rescue him again Teleporting to Hommlet works a lot but not always .one time ,it took me 4 tries to "rescue" that ingrate but if you want the reward (for me more the money than the sword)you got to try.BTW WizGeorge who is this princess you speak of? Is she someone you consoled in or is she part of game,as I've never run across her.

Apparently, he cannot be wounded when you get to the surface. My warriors had taken him out for a test drive and dinged him up a bit. Problem solved - he disappeared.

I assume the award will come at the pre-ordained time.

 

Yes, if "Whenever" is pre-ordained.

 

The rescue didn't work so for s&g's I changed him into a female paladin in protos and gave it the Darley portrait. I'm running an all female group with custom portraits so he wouldn't fit. Big help in fighting Z, tho.

 

Hmm Thrommel's rescue seems dodgy,I rescued him twice..lol. The teleoprt trick does not always work either.

Workaround...Save before exiting the Temple and see if he leaves correctly? That is my only suggestion. You can gain his equiptment on Humble NPC options for CO8 Mod.

"Woodcutter" oh aye...after deklo and his girl,I did not see any other dialogue options?

 

After saving Ami, you should get the option of buying things with him as agent. Takes forever every step.
