    Question: Can this new engine make ToEE quasi turn-based instead of purely turn-based, like BG or IWD? it's still turn-based but it would flow from one turn to another with the feel of a real-time RPG.

    I certainly hope not. There aren't enough pure turn based RPG games as it is.

    The capability of the new engine to render real-time battles doesn't subtract from the number of turn-based games that you can play. You can have both types of games for people of different preferences.

    I prefer real-time battles for its increased level of challenge with regard to decision-making, because you have to choose your tactics and respond to enemy tactics a lot quicker than you otherwise would. Of course some people might find a reason to make special use of the 'pause' feature to make combats perform like a turn-based one at their leisure, but there are also some others who'll roleplay through to the end all the way, or at least want a nascent opportunity to do so, fighting battles in a manner that will more closely resemble how you are really going to fight if you were in a true DnD world (not being able to avail a longer than possible length of time to decide your next move, for one).

    Well, you did write "instead of" and not "in addition to", so it would, technically subtract from the number of TB games available.

    It would be theoretically possible. But since I have no plans to implement that, someone else would have to do it.

    And I also think the true D&D rules cannot be implemented with real-time combat.

    @DarkStorm -

    Is running the converter destructive to a ToEE installation at all? I'd like to check this out, but I don't want to blow up the current dev state of the Co8 modpack.

    No, absolutly not. the converter will only read data from your ToEE installation and write it to zip-files, that reside with the converter (in the data subdirectory, where you exctracted the converter).
