First line: Human Fighter starting with Str19? Well that's a cheat. Never did like Dragonlance. Old Skool FTW. Portraits are nice though.
In Forgotten Realms, like Drizzt and companions are far more overpowered than in DL! Oh, and sorry about that STR 19, it should be actually 18 (STR 19 at level 6 by PHP). But Lord Soth is not actually human, so 20 STR applies for me. PS. Dragonlance isn't that "new thing" either, the series launched at 1984 (Dragons of Autumn Twilight).
I've always liked Larry Elmore and Clyde Caldwell art but never got into dragonlance or forgotten realms.
I personally just love Elmore's work, he really knows how to draw the character so that they really have the right impression and you can instantly tell the character from the book. He also doesn't follow the description in the book too strictly, which imo is a good thing. The new edition covers (by Matthew Stawicki) aren't that cool anymore b. It's never too late to go into library and fetch "Dragons of Autumn Twilight".
I am a huge DragonLance fan and have read at least 80 of the books. Thanks for posting these. Where did you get the stats from? Was it the DL gaming book from the 90's that had Tanis holding the crown on the cover? I didn't know they included feats in that book.
The stats are from War of the Lance: Dragonlance Campaign Setting Supplement. That old version with Tanis is for AD&D I guess and this one is for D&D 3E. I had to lower most of the ability scores according the levels, since there wasn't any starting level ability scores. The most tricky part was actually to find heights for the characters. There are also stats for many other characters in that book and I can send you the eBook, it's only 8 MB, if you are interested. Just gimme PM. How do you like <this picture> of Lord Soth? IMO, coolest picture of Lord Soth even if it's fan made. PS. I also got portrait set for Drizzt and his companions and enemies, which I can publish if someone is interested.
I like the Soth pic. It reminds me of his attack on the Tower in Dragons of the Hourglass Mage. Did you have a chance to read it yet? I heard that it is the last DL book Weis and Hickman plan to write, is that true?
My wife has bought me Dragons of Dwarven Depth and Dragons of Highlord Skies in past two Christmases and now she will buy me Dragons of Hourglass Mage for next Christmas present. As soon as I have all the three books, I will read them in a row. Are they any good? I haven't heard that Weis wouldn't write any more Dragonlance, but then again it makes sense since I think she feels that Dragons of Hourglass Mage is like a closure for she for Dragonlance. She has already given more than we asked for.
They are really good. I liked Hourglass Mage a lot. I don't remember as much from the other two but I remember enjoying them thoroughly. Edit: I just got Ghost King (the new Drizzt book) from Amazon a couply days ago. I am about half way done. I like it so far, but I get a feeling from Salvatore's intro that it is going to get really dark.
Drizzt's Companions & Enemies I like the first six of the Drizzt books, but after that is just repetition. Nobody dies and nothing changes... But speaking about Drizzt, here are portraits of Drizzts companions and enemies. Big portraits. Small portraits. And here's also 3E stats for all of them. Stats are mainly taken from www.wizards.com, but some are from the miscellaneous forums. Note that some feats are not in the game, since I just copy-paste. Just FYI, with the release of 5.7.0, the compatible-with-same portrait packs for BG and IWD will be released in short order.
I created a new party for 5.7 last night and I used all the old portraits, lol. I don't like the new ones. Now, if we had some Vallejo or Frazetta or Giger in there, THAT would be really something!
Never liked BG portraits in the first place... IWD portraits are WIN, but imho don't quite work for TOEE. I do enjoy the extra new custom portraits that come pre-packaged with the Co8 mod. Also, Necroticpus, it's extremely easy to make custom portraits, it only involves some cropping and having a program that can save .tga I used to make my own portraits when I ran "anime parties" in TOEE.
Hey, Are the BG and IWD Portrait Packs included with the 5.7 Mod Pack Release or will the portrait packs be out a little bit later? Thanks
