Heh. We can't even get a consensus on how many members the committee should have. :)

Just another step in our plan to drive you bat-shit crazy, Blue. :)

For the next step, I second the nomination of CtB, as well as those of Cujo, Lord Spike, Allyx, Shiningted, Gaear and Agetian.

I accept my nomination. (Didn't realize we're supposed to do that.)

I was looking at more of everyone has a say on everything. Granted, different folks are going to have different areas of expertise, but the "Module Guy" is likely going to have an opinion on rules compliance while the "Rules Guy" may have some input on the story quality. I think assigning people specific roles limits the level of critiquing. While it might be a good idea to assign people focuses for their efforts (don't want everyone looking at the story aspects and forgetting the technical compliance, or whatever) everyone on the committee should be allowed to comment on any and all aspects of the mod they feel comfortable with.

thats how I'd like to see it work, I'd also like to see 8 members just so we can all stand in a circle. It would be poetic.

btw you do have to accept you nomination, cos what if you were nomitanted seconded but didn't want to do it?

I accept, though can I hide in a corner and work on KotB or will I have an active role?

You can always abstain Ted ( I hear you are pretty good at that). But you are also pretty good at testing new mods, and usually have an opinion about them, and that is what we would want from the committee members.

Well, we really want more than just an opinion. Committee members need to be willing to take a stand knowing that it will actually have an effect. It is one thing to stick by your opinion when it will only be your opinion, but I have noticed a tendency on this forum for people to back down when it looks like their opinion is going to be taken as law.

Well, I do have an opinion on the whole issue of new mods, so yes I will put my hand up then.

Cujo, thanks for the nomination. If the committee goes to 8, I'm glad to help out.

I have to ask - can somebody tell me how having the dozen or so people who already effectively control the site elect ourselves to a formal board whose job is to control the site be any different than what we have now? What's the point? We already are the committee.

Members of The Committee will receive funny hats.

    ;)

There might be an advantage to a more formal structure, in that eight people giving input on what goes in or stays out, with CtB having the deciding vote, are likely to give more quality input than a random number of board goers. Also, Co8 Committee members are likely to see themselves as more invested, and accordingly put more of their time into developing and testing out mods and ideas. However, if you think a smaller body would be better, your board plus CtB as Modder in Chief works fine. Appoint away, or set up a vote.

*Throws up his hands* Ugh. This is exactly what I am talking about. Nobody here controls s**t, or is willing to take a stand and say "we will do it this way". If I need a hard and fast decision on something, it takes you guys three weeks of bickering to come up with "use your best judgment CtB." So I do just that, and then I hear a lot of "Why did you do it that way?" Well, I made a decision, I stuck with it and I got something done for the community (and on time, I might add). I can't be the only one here able or willing to do this, can I? I hope not, because I might not always be here.

Perhaps the rest of you don't see a need for this sort of organizing and decision making. If that is the case, please let me know and I will stop pissing people off by doing it.

All I wanted was for some people to step up and share this responsibility with me. I thought this thread was finally going to make that happen. Perhaps not.

    I'd honestly love to be part of this. I know it isn't much, but I'll just throw my hat in here. If any of the already-elected members feel they're not up to this, or just don't care to do it, I'll gladly fill in on their position. Well, if I qualify. >>;

I'm in. I held out for so long because I didn't want to HAVE to come here all the time if I didn't feel like it, but I almost never miss a day anyways, so WTF. I think it'll be different because we'll have a more formal structure to adhere to, though the "3 weeks" thing may still linger because of real life & continental drift, or whatever you want to call it. We should elect a chairperson to have a tie-breaking vote (they will get 2), but leave all other offices & titles out of it so no one feels compelled to do any more than they already are. Anyone can get out any time they wish, and the remaining members will select a replacement from the boards. Blue gets my vote for lead on this thing, so he can have the deciding vote. It really just formalizes our existing relationship; but sometimes the commitment needs to be spoken.

My vote goes to Blue for the chair. I remain willing to help as I can, and to commit the time needed to do so.

I'm not so sure a formal structured group is necessary here. Modders as a group are a very talented, and diverse gang. Rules compliance is a major thing. Things have to be rules compliant and basically fit the storyline. It does not make sense to have all kinds of +5 magic items and treasure in a game that does not support it. There is so many uber magic items that can be crafted or consoled. It's okay if there is a standard game and a frontend uber that's understood to be that way. There should be options for all types of players, power-hungry super gamers and by the rules geeks. We don't need one this is how and the only way you can play or go away thing. Rules are 1 thing and gaming options is another.

If we must have an oversite commitee, I nominate CtB, as well as Cujo, Lord Spike, Allyx, Shiningted, Gaear, Agetian and of course Kalshane. (Hey that's eight)

ps........I think these people already have a great deal to say about what goes in or not, sometimes by being asked, and other times by the example they set when offering thier contributions to the mod.

Just a happy non modding recipiant of the work freely offered.
