Exactly! ...no, wait... EVEN DOUBLE THUMBS UP (for some reason the appropriate smiley didn't work) !! This is the core and the essence of the modding here at the Circle of Eight: there is a mod, called the Circle of Eight Mod, and it's a community effort, and definitely a team effort. If someone wants to join our team, he is really welcome to do so - but then he must really strive to work as a part of the team, not alone. And if someone doesn't want to join our team and work on our community mod, he is 100% free to do so and release his own standalone mods.

err... but their boobs weren't lolling free for all to see :p

I think you underestimate the intelligence of children here... my 9 year old cousin thinks this game is awesome, for instance, and much prefers it over diablo 2. or maybe he's just incredibly smart. i don't know. i do know that i started playing computer roleplaying games with the ultima series when i was 6, and enjoyed several number-heavy strategy games as well. it even helped me learn math and databases, and also improved my english grammar drastically.

but you're right about the violence though. i'd rather that children look at cartoony boobs all day than graphic animations of people getting their heads ripped off. and in retrospect, eh who cares, boobs are great!

Boobs are not actually entirely free and joyfully swinging about. Female characters when unclothed and undressed still wear a 2-piece g-string/t-back bikini top and bottom on them. Here in Florida, girls wear stuff like that at the beach all the time.

And, yes - we agree, it's great!.. :)

But they could if they wanted to, Sol, and it wouldn't necessarily be a wrong thing to do. It's all about context and story. Orion doesn't get to tell the community what to do. That's the real point. This module was released in 1980...complete with space robots & missile launchers. This is what drove adventurers mad at the Barrier Peaks...a Mind Flayer's Psionic Blast; He's also got a Blaster Pistol & some grenades, and is wearing the outfit of a space traveller. A science/fantasy crossover; D&D also did crossovers with Boot Hill (Wild West) and Gamma World (Post-Apocalypse). From what I've read, DH is not inappropriate at all, because it has been given context by the story-teller, ShiningTed.

Yeah the boobs are what people should worry about with their kids. Never mind the depraved ritual sacrifices to alien gods, devil-worship, murder, rape, pillaging...to name a few really harmless things. By the time they get to this game, don't you think they've seen a pair of tits...never mind full on hard core porn...on the internet? I know you were sort of funnin' there, but get real.

BTW, doesn't Lolth look awesome in her Drow form? Looks like a spidery-type catsuit there...

Looks great. Shame about the skin colour restrictions in Toee - pictures like that make me want to play an angry (non singing/Poetry) Drow in Toee:evil_laug

Finally, some honest feedback on DH! :)

The funny thing is, I can probably defend practically everything in DH (except Frank, he's indefensible - thats part of his charm) but meh, I surrender. You're right, Orion. Its a silly piece of nonsense, I never said it was anything more. And yet, as posted above, people seem to enjoy it. Thats what the GAME of ToEE (or D&D) was about, wasn't it?

But please don't drag the whole Co8 crew into your beef with DH (o and you seem to object to a couple of the weapons Cujo did. We'll woopdy-f***ing-doo, as he said they can only be consoled in atm). What about everything else that will be in there? From Cujo's armour and clothes to Darmagon's spells - Disintergrate is a work of art, and he has drastically improved higher level Rangers and Paladins - to Allyx's shop-map and craftable gear, Heavy-Dan and Cujo's oriental weapons (the fact 2 people went to the trouble of modding stuff in and Cujo gets regular requests to do more shows how popular the idea is) and Cerulean's massive improvement of random encounters, and dare I even add my own efforts to get a few more voices in there (NPC voices, not the PC ones), Co8 4.0.0 will be a huge improvement to the game.

Here's some simple instructions for how to disable DH when Co8 4.0 comes out officially (because everyone here knows you WILL d/l and install it). Delete the Lila dlg and py files (298 or 299 for memory). Thats all you have to do. No Frank, no Gwen, no cabal, nothing, all gone. Then try to refrain from console-cheating Cujo's weapons. :giggle:

And whatever else you say about my mods, please don't bag the dialogue, I am rather proud of it. The stuff you did in Y'Dey's dlg file was rubbish, though I understand that is because u r ESL. Seriously, I can't do dlg in Italian, I'm not taking shots at you. What I am taking shots at it the fact we can't see your .dlg file for Lorelei because you DIDN'T POST IT. The feedback I have seen suggests the Lorelei character causes a CTD when u enter Jaroo's house.

But then, you have never posted anything that didn't cause a CTD, have you Orion.

And if you had read the module carefully, you would have noticed it said the Potboy in the Welcome Wench was Jaroo's apprentice, you could have expanded the existing game rather than adding in your own stuff. Please read the rulebooks etc more carefully in future. :pelvicthr

In relation to boobies; the gladiator armour is based on real gladiator armour - most of which has no chest armour only arms and legs - and there were some female gladiators but not many. the celts also fought naked at about 300 BC

the corset is based on some pics by luis royo.

I used to hate fantasy styled armour, because its not pratical for the most part but then I took a chill pill and now I don't care.

Sorry for resurrecting this "outstanding" moment of infamy, but I felt a bit nostalgic today. Hah!

Hm, so I'm wondering ... what was our buddy 0rion79 doing when he visited this forum a few weeks ago (well, according to his User Profile anyway)? Seems he couldn't resist the temptation after all. :eyebrow:

    I don't know.

What I always wonder about is occaisional drive-by poster who asks about the 0rion Complete Fixes mod and then never posts again.:scratchhe I sometimes wonder if someone is hoping we've all "come to our senses" about it.

I noticed that too. Never really had a doubt that he'd be here, logged on or off, checking out all the replies (as some of you predicted).

Yeah, as though it's real well known. "What's this I here about an 'Orion mod' anyway?!" :lalala: Although I guess it is at Sorcerer's Place for some reason.

I was searching about a "Gwenno" encounter I had just had (Blue would be proud!)
and I came accross this!! MAN! Orion-if you are reading this in disguise- what Sol Invictus said- seconded by what ShiningTed said to boot!

I am not a tremendous fan of the actual DH quest, per se- but it IS fun! And Kudos to Ted and all involved!

And may I say, I think it is an ABSOLUTELY GREAT addition to ToEEFE! Isn't it the biggest adventure/mod yet? Shows what this GROUP (y-know Co8-not just one purist) can accomplish!

I love ToEEFE and it's abilities to pick and choose what has been modded by many.

I hope the guys (and girls?) here keep it up, and I hope Allyx and the crew doing KoTB stay with the same Front End idea.

So, Orion, if you are reading this in any capacity- I am new here and never knew you, and I am a bit of a purist too, so I may have, as Sol suggested, given your argument more creedence if it had indeed been that- and argument, not a pre-pubescent rant.

Leave the true modders to their work and - Be Gone.

Yeah, Toffee makes life damn sweet, being able to switch back and forth.

I noticed 0rion lurks when I was checking up on folks... Drifter, sadly, had the courage of his convictions and ain't been back and Liv hasn't been by either :( Hope she is ok. But 0rion couldn't keep away... ;)

That being said - meh, lets just get on with life.
