all that looks good to me except for
Drifter's armor proficiency fix for druids - Druids get "Light" and "Medium" armor proficiencies instead of armor proficiency "Druid".
dragonhide plate is heavy armor but Melz could wear it cos its not metal - if the druid armour fix went to include metal but exclude heavy armour then whats Melz going to wear?

    - $0.02

also extra protraits would be cool just don't get rid of my favourite one...

Did a prelim run without Ted's new voices and in zipped format the package is at 31.2 MB. Add in the portrait packs and its going to top 40 MB. Add in Ted's new voices and who knows how big its going to get. Is this going to be a problem? Perhaps we should bundle the portraits and new voices as a separate download.

Edit: In Ted's Mod my Druid can still wear dragonhide plate, and that is what I'm going off of.

Re: Our installation situation is a disaster

If it helps, the portrait.mes I edited to add my new portraits was the one in data/art/interface/portraits.
    Thats a very good idea.
Well I appreciate it, but I pretty much need all the voices of the free world to agree with you ;) Otherwise its a crossover thing that really has no place in an official Co8 patch, and I suspect there are people here who are thinking that, even if they are not saying it.

Putting it in a seperate pack would simply mean removing the new NPCs' dlg and py files, the mobs that spawn them and the sountracks (and GKR's voices ;)). It wouldn't have anything to do with the protos.tab, description.mes etc, so it could be added any point post-Co8 4.0.0 without interfering (unless people make other changes to the soundtracks of those maps, which is unlikely).

Onto less pleasant issues: I still have to get to the bottom of this Ah Fong CTD, and St Cuthbert STILL spawns with no armour! I swear I can't figure that one, but will keep looking into it. And I want to change some of my stuff to 'no NPC pickup' to prevent silly looting situations.

Edit: Btw, I agree with what was said above, Drifter's stuff should certainly be in there as an option.

Well...Gaear read my mind. Funny how he can still do that. He must have foil penetrating brain waves or something...

Anyway, I was going to prod him to utilize some of his newly heightened political influence to see about this. My game is totally f'd, and I'm really interested in playing with all the new stuff the community has created. I'm sorry that I missed out on posting earlier on this, but, as usual, things don't really need me to carry on. But fwiw, I'm glad to see that it's finally on the way.

    BTW, WTF is DH?

Re: Our installation situation is a disaster

    All of the above.

But in this case, yes DH refers to Desperate Housewives, the new content part of my mod. As opposed to the additional combat voices and expanded vocalisations for NPCs (the 'Playful NPCs' mod) and the (in)famous 'Something about Mary' (or 'SaM') brothel changes. Err, brothel improvements :p

Hi, back after a LONG haitus to check on status of things.
Wow its gotten worse and more confusing? o_O

    Tips

    1 - Organize your forums
1 thread called "ToEE Patching Newbie Guide"
Under that put links to everything, tell what to install and in what order, also put when to reboot. Put it as a step-by-step guide, in ONE place please.
Include all relevant fixes, then in a seperate place below offset it with **** or something and put "Optional stuff" that does NOT include any fixes.

    2 - Differentiate
Too many of the "patches" have optional new stuff. We just want patches sometimes and not have to d/l new stuff we don't care about. Seperate the patch and not turn it into a mini-expansion pack. This makes things worse for newbies if its all integrated. Sometimes we don't want more then 5 PCs or to remove limits that were imposed by the designers like level cap. Seperate please.

    3 - Prioritize
Put a link to the updated bug list thread in that same newbie thread. With text like: "Current bug list" or something.
Put it somewhere in clear view, away from the rest of the forum clutter.

    4 - Forum clutter
There's lots of it, I'm afraid. Maybe it should be some type of limit on making new threads so as to not have 20 different threads each promoting their own mod or such. People need to organize the forums a bit, putting all mod threads in one general heading under the Mod part of the forum, and so forth.
I came back and I was just overwhelmed trying to figure out what I needed to d/l to fix ToEE. I didn't care about extra content or extra stuff I just want the game to work the way it was supposed to be when I bought it for $4 from a bargain bin.

    Finally
Have something, in all caps if need be, with that newbie thread in maybe bold or bigger type or something. If a person types in Co8.org they should be able to easily see "ok lemme click on this to get the patches".
Hell, why not just say "Click here for the patches" as a thread name? Whatever works.

Just some suggestions, take it with a grain of salt or even be serious about them. Just some newbie insight from a *real* newbie as they would react to coming here for nearly the first time.

    Till then.

Re: Our installation situation is a disaster

Darkwraith007 - We are trying to clean this up. Alot of your suggestions keep talking about separating the fixes from the additional content. This is problematic. Virtually all the mods here have some form of new content. Separating it all would be a monumental task, especially since a lot of it is embedded in the mods and the and the mod creators are no longer around. I definately do not have the time, nor the inclination, to do this. I think the expanded content makes the game better.

ShingingTed - I am very familiar with your reluctance to have Desparate Housewives be a part of any Co8 release. I also have noticed that despite all your protestation, you have yet to post a comprehensive (and possibly up to date) version of you other work (bundled with Cujo's and Allyx's work) that does not include DH. If you don't want it in, then give us something to work with that doesn't include it.

Perhaps Gaear should make another poll as to whether or not DH is included in the Co8 release. Of course, no matter what the results, you, Ted, will have the final say.

Re: Our installation situation is a disaster

nice shot allyx if only berkamp was doing as well:)

okay my understanding is .. by osmosis... or simply building upon..

teds 1.20 for toeefe has co8 304 modified temple dll..,demogorgons new spells.. , drifters fixes.. but not humble nor hp for PCs/npcs.. liv 1.5.1 ,cujos ...teds 1.2.0 and shop 2 and allyx items...

    is that correct??

ted did you mean this??"a new bunch of portraits bundled in, both because my mod interferes with these things,"

you mean your mod doesnt work with new portraits of conflicts??

also i believe it was said but whatever is put in or is included by contagion.. Must be documented.. preferably conherently and in one readme.. not a bunch of em...

    mod add ons incluided...

breif summary of features.. what other goodies it might have been based on

some of the docs are great..and just nee to be condesnsed into one file...
and some .. sorry ted love your mod.. ..

are in need of some editing.. for content and revision..

okay... side issue.. does drifters druid armour fix.. cause a problem or not?? as it appears in the teds 120 toeefe ready...pack..

what can i say i like druids...

*and bards especially 1st ed ad&d ones:)

Yeah all that stuff you mentioned is in the toffee pack (I installed the Co8 3.0.4 to a non-ToEE directory, then pasted each mod, in order on top of it and zipped it).

I made all the portraits.mes files from the portraits.mess! thread compatable with ted's 1.2.0.

    I hate writing read.me files.

Re: Our installation situation is a disaster

I have every confidence that the talented people on this forum who mod the game will make a fine, balanced and accessible Co8 4.0 patch (or version of) just like they have done since the game was released.

TOEE is an official D&D product and, as such, will attract players for years to come. People still play Baldur's gate ffs! So you 'ALL' have my thanks for everything you've done to improve this game.
