Not sure I deserve all that credit Dar, but thanks for the kind words. Bug Report: I seem to get a CTD upon casting Mass Bear's Endurance. Crash occurs before the bears' heads appear. Also - don't seem to get eye candy for Mass Heal or regular Bear's Endurance. Lastly - the eye candy for Heal and Harm looks fantastic! Edit: btw I installed this overtop Allyx's cumulative renegade mods package, aka Co8 4.0.1. Could there be any issues with that?
yes I am an idiot, I have often said so. My only excuse is overwork (not here but in the 'real world') (well here too but that is my own damned fault) Anyway, without getting into a huge explanation of how much of an idiot I actually am, the new new new new spell release (with fixes) is now available. As always, go to the first post in this thread to get it. As far as installing over that release, I am not sure, but all the problems you mentioned were in yesterdays releas and are fixed now. Darmagon
Okay - Eye candy for Mass Heal & Mass Bear's Endurance looks a-okay, but I still don't get the bear's head for regular old single Bear's Endurance. On a minor note, and this is referring back quite a ways here, I notice that the in-effect 'notch' on the character portrait for Ray of Clumsiness is showing up on top of the potrait, where 'good' effects are supposed to be, IIRC.
Absolutely right, it should be on the bottom but, in the spell, I use a negative bonus for Cat's Grace to get the effect and Cat's Grace is supposed to be a positive spell, Don't know how to change that as AFAIK that is all handled in temple.dll. Okay, as far as the single bears endurance thing, I goofed (again) see the first post in this thread to get a fix for this. Another goof, which I can't fix right now because my bandwidth is shot for my geocities site, is the existence of extra directories in the .zip. In explanation, I just switched to PKZIP recently and while it is more powerful than Winzip,it does things a little differently and I am still figuring things out..... Question: how would I go about getting around the upload size limit here, so that I could post a copy of the spells here instead of offsite (on a site with ridiculous constraints on band width)? Darmagon
Hey Dar - Before you re-upload, care to throw in some eye candy for Mass Cure Light Wounds? I know its not yours, but apparently Troika never did anything with it. It would be cool to streamline the whole thing. If you decline it won't hurt my feelings. Edit: Sweet! All around.
Okay, just in case anyone is wondering why I haven't released the official, final release of the spells yet. since I had made a promise to do so around last sunday, here is the explanation..... Ahem: I think it was Nerrik (sp?) who claimed a CTD with Mordenkainen's Sword. In any case, that claim sent me off in search of a problem with the spell. This prompted me to try several different ways of actually accomplishing the spell effect. I finally hit upon one that has the bonus of not requiring the spell to be cast by a game party member (while still, insofar as I am able, remaining true to the spell in the SRD.) This means that the spell can be used by npc's against the party. In addition, I had an exchange with Kalshane about how Disintegrate should be finally fixed regarding M's Sword and, by extension, a few other spells (most notably Spiritual Weapon) which should only be affectable by Disintegrate and a few other effects (none of the other effects, AFAIK, are in the game yet) so I had to figure out how that should be done, in line with my new implementation. Then, one night, I was looking through the spells in the PHB and one in particular stood out as: 1) Being easily accomplishable given what I had discovered for M's Sword; 2) Could serve as a first example of how to accomplish some non-spell abilities that creatures can have, without having to have them cast a spell. The spell is Flaming Sphere, a 2nd level Wiz/Sor spell. I know that the effects occur within a spell but the method by which the effects are accomplished can be used outside of a spell and inside one of the script attachment points (ie. san_heartbeat or san_start_combat.) Anyway, I have been to hell and back (or at least to the nodes and back) testing the new M's Sword as a party spell. I have spent a lot of time outside the welcome wench testing the Sword as an NPC spell with a Witch as the caster. And I have done a lot of testing of Flaming Sphere and have become quite enamoured of the way the little thing scurries around dealing damage (see the attachment). I have even thought of making a Happy face sprite for it.... I have had to make some compromises with F. Sphere as it turns out to be too difficult to manuever it to get it to damage the creature you want it to damage. Instead of doing 2d6 to one target in any given round, it does 1d4 to every target within 5 feet, except the spell caster (so keep it away from you party members!) . I may up that to 1d6 once I have done some more tests for game balance, but I think it will probably have to stay at 1d4 . EDIT: sorry, forgot to mention that I will have the final release ready by tomorrow. Just have to integrate with the newest protos and do some cursory game balance testing with F. Sphere. Other than that, everything is solid (and Gaear's new mass cure sounds will be included....) Darmagon
Sounds good, D. Am I reading you correctly that this Flaming Sphere will be a new, regularly available game spell? That would be sweet: something new that players can look forward to at relatively low levels.
Wonderful! Great job, Darmagon! Really looking forward to trying out the final version of your spells pack! - Agetian
Okay, the first "official" release of the new spells is now up. Get it at the first post in this thread. Thnx Darmagon
The first bug report for the official release is now up too . . . The eye candy for Finger of Death seems to have gone. Please bring it back! Everything else looks very cool, including the Flaming Sphere.
While I haven't read the entire thread, I hope true resurrection will be ahead in the next release. -EE
