    Hi Ted
    I had the same results as Kneller. My 4th Level Wizard ( Spell Penetration ) "Knocked" the door open, with no difficulty at all. In fact the whole encounter was something of any anti-climax. After the door opened my 4th Level Bard ( 16 Cha, no meta-magic feats ) took out the wizard with one joke ( Tasha's Hideous Laughter ) and the fighter types made Chicken Soup of the Wizard's "Pets". One other interesting note about the mad Wizard: When I returned to the Keep to report the demise of the first party to the Bailiff, I was not given a dialogue option to report that I had killed the Wizard.

    Other interesting notes:
    1.) I spoke with Flay days after completing " 8 Legged Freaks ", and he asked me if I was "having any luck with that little spider hunt"
    2.) I cleaned out the Thorp, earning the "Enemy of Hextor" reputation, but when I visited the temple of Hextor in the Keep, I got the standard response ( they wouldn't talk to me, and I ended up outside ).

    I am currently having zero CTDs playing by your suggestion ( Rest in the Fine Room for 8 hours, exit to "the world" and return. I still occasionally hear the smith hammering if my party returns to the keep after nightfall. I don't know if this is related or not, but when I rested my party in the "common room", it seemed like my 16 Con Fighter ( and only my Fighter )was always coming down with some disease or another, and some point thereafter I would have a CTD.

    Interesting... the diseases have an incubation period so they tend to turn up after resting but not because of it: they are stil cause by getting bitten by rats, or possibly ghouls, and (allegedly) getting wounded in swamps.

    With Flay's thing, had you accepted his third (non-doable) quest?

    In that case, FIXED! (But not tested).

    In other testing news, my 'post-CTD-fix-followed-by-unlimited-rest-and-much-play' has gone swimmingly, no more bugs found and no CTDs.

    Until... I tried to level up my rogue and got the Win98 Rogue Feat CTD bug. Twice.

    PLEASE tell me I was just having a bad day and I didn't ship the Demo with an old .dll. Please. Someone. Anyone playing in Win98, please give me feedback!

    You were right on the diseases. My party had an encounter in a swamp area, and Two-swords and my Cleric were injured. A day or so later they both had "Filth Fever". Thanks for clarifying the issue for me.

    I do have a couple more minor issues to report.
    1.) I have had no contact with the Thieve's Guild, even though my Bard picked the pocket of every person in the market, plus the Smith, the Bailiff and a Watch Officer in the Pub. At one point 3 drunks showed up, but didn't do anything but complain about their headaches ( I thought you didn't get the headache until "the morning after the night before" but hey, what do I know: I don't drink )
    2.) I cleaned out the Thorp, and then reported the presence of the Temple of Hexter to the Temple of Heironeous. When I spoke with the Curate ( using my Cleric of Heironeous ), there wasn't a dialogue option to say "Don't worry I wiped it out" or something to that effect.
    3.) Other than the Thieve's Guild quests, I think I have completed all the quests, but there is no way I can report to the Bailiff that I killed the Mad Wizard, even though I killed him BEFORE reporting about the demise of the other party to complete "In their Footsteps"

    New Bug

    Hi Ted
    I just emailed the save files from a game I was playing last night. I started a new game and created a CG Party with a CN Fighter with the Weapon Focus ( Heavy Flail ) Feat. In the second battle the party fought ( fighting a Zombie in the Harpy Forest ) I noticed that the fighter hit the Zombie but did no damage, so I opened up the die-roll box for the damage and saw five lines of text that were variations on the following:
    ERROR ! Missing Line 2011 in mes\ damage.mes : Heavy Flail . The game seems to have calculated the damage correctly, but I thought you should know.

    Here's a bizzare one:

    After wiping out and looting the Thieve's Guild, I got a CTD whenever exiting through the sewer exit or saving. After much testing, it seems that the CTDs only occur if I loot the arrows carried by Karyn (sp?) - the guy w/ the shortbow who guards the sewer exit. I can loot every other item they carry w/o CTD, but with his arrows in my rogue's quiver, CTD every time.

    The bracers he carries act strange, too - when you loot them they try to appear in both his corpse's inventory and your own at the same time. They don't cause a CTD, though.

    You didn't divide them up then? Hmmmm... I accidently killed that guy myself recently and looted his gear, I don't remember that problem: I'll give it another go.

    Yep.
    They also appear two times in the looting inventory if yoy scroll down, but that's a common bug, the strange thing it's that the bracers can be looted and equipped, but, if you touch the ones in the looting inventory, the equipped ones dispppear.
    You can also equip them and leave, and if you go back, the bracers are again in the corpse...and so and so.
    Really strange.

    :scratchhe I just started another game with the exact same party, and guess what ?? No Error message in the Damage die-roll box !! Another thing I noticed, was when my party was moving through the woods Southwest of the Corpser's puddle, if I scrolled up so that the party was at the very bottom of the screen, the trees disappered !! Unfortunately it only seems to work in that one location ( I tried it going around the shrine to no effect ). I will try it when I get to the Spider Forest and let you know what happens.

    I don't mean to sound like an ingrate, but could you please post on fix for the blacksmith. I opened the file in notepad,and after scrolling through it found the following:
    begin_dialogs SKIP_DEFAULT( . I also found san_dialogues and pasted the
    SKIP_DEFAULT after that, but it doesn't work. If nothing else could you please post the scr file for the blacksmith so we can copy it into the proper file ?

    Hi Ted
    Thank you, Thank You, Thank You !! I had a CG party contemplating an alignment change to CE because of the Blacksmith. I did some quick checking, and the Blacksmith repeat visit bug is definately fixed as is the minor error in Flay's Dialogue that I reported a while back ( the error of reporting that the merchant was getting out of the silk business before you even met the merchant ). I was hoping that the "scroll the screen so the party was at the bottom to see through the trees" item that I reported (#325), would work in the Spider Forest, but alas, it doesn't. In fact I have not been able to duplicate that effect since that one encounter. Keep up the good work !!

    Ooo, positive feedback - thanks :mrhappy:

    I haven't actually fixed that Flay one, there is still something else using the same flag, so you probably just haven't triggered that this time. But it will be easy to find when I get a chance.

    Can someone give me feedback on the 'rescue the guy from the cell' situation? I have fiddled it to fix some minor issues but am not sure I ever replicated exactly what the problem was.

    he joins my party .. i didn't take it very far, but he does join up and starts to sneak out my my rogue. thanks for the fix.
