North Korea is threatening nuclear war again

I've seen a few documentaries on North Korea.
The country would basically starve if it wasn't for the UN.

The leaders are revered as gods.

There are plenty of homeless people in North Korea and the defectors they talked too all escaped over the Chinese Border.

 

I didn't know what Kim Jong-il looked like so I went and got a couple of pictures of him to post so everyone knows. If you see this man wherever you are on the street, jump him and beat him mercilessly and then leave a chinese flag on his body. The first picture is of him and Vladimir Putin, russian president, in 2002, looking to be the best of friends...

 

Be carefull you get the right one apparently he uses several Kim Jong-il alikes.

First off, after re-reading my last post I realize I came down too harshly in some of the things I said, and I hope you took no offense. If you were offended, I apologize. Hugs to you - :hug:

I agree that between civilized countries this is the best way to resolve the issue, but it fails to address the basic issue that North Korea would simply ignore any judgment from the World Court or United Nations resolutions, as they already do/have.

The black people of South Africa fought apartheid as valiantly as they could, but they never had the military, economic, or political strength to overthrow the South African government without the support of and sanctions by the Western industrialized nations.

First, I must recuse myself from the list of those who served - I have great respect for all who serve their countries, but I never wore the uniform myself.

As for the comment on "full scale war" - does 1950 ring a bell? I really don't want to see a repeat that is preceded by North Korean nuclear first strikes...

I would love to see oppressed peoples everywhere rise up and free themselves, but it is particularly unlikely in North Korea. The government there is so overbearing, so pervasive - especially after 65 years of ingrained subordination, that a popular uprising is pretty much impossible. Think about it - over the last 65 years, Kim Il-sung and his son, Kim Jong-il, turned a communist government, which is supposed to be classless, into a hereditary autocracy. Such a change would have been abhorrent to true communists such as Lenin, and would only be possible under a situation of total control of the people.

 

Indeed, that would be most excellent, but what can you do when the large majority are content with the status quo and to be taken advantage of but don't have any goals other than working 8-12 hour days, cribbage league on wednesdays, paying the mortgage, listening to Lady Gaga on their new 250 terrabyte Iphone and occasionally having sex?

Granted, a significant amount of people in the world have it much, much rougher than us and are forced to live in abhorrent nightmare conditions every waking moment of their lives, but when something's wrong, it's wrong. No getting around it. I guess the best I can hope to do is move out of the states to somewhere and try to live my ideal lifestyle instead of trying to change american society because WE THE PEOPLE are too caught up in our own filth to recognize obvious problems and care enough to do something about them. Too much indifference to fight against anymore.

Interesting, the guy's name in Russian is pronouced <Kim Chen Ir> ("I" like "ee" and "r" like in "right"), and his father's name <Kim Ir Sen>... Quite different from what is written in English here.

As Hugh M. pointed out, this is very strange...

I remember USA and allies making war on Iraq, and later Iraqi puppet government hanging the Iraqi President (however bad guy you (or me) believe he was, he was no less legitimate than most of world's presidents, he was elected after all, even if a lot of time ago, was not he?)
But I do not remember plane crushers were found to be his agents.
On the contrary, they were declared to be agents of one Osama, who is (or was, supposedly, in the past) in turn USA government agent and Saudi businessman.
And neither USA leaders (at least those who were in power when he was their agent) nor Saudi leaders, nor that one evil guy O. were punished.

If O. is/was USA agent or not, is, of course, not known for sure (and maybe he was not), but it is known for sure that he was NOT Iraqi secret service agent.

By the way, are these two weeks "weeks of political chatter" in USA ? I played DDO a bit last couple of days, and there are very hot political discussions among people from USA about Obama. (Oh, under "O." I did not mean him here! :shy

Well, let us wait until it has to apply to that Court and wins, and then either it abides to all of Court's decisions, or gets nothing from its winnings. Maybe, and most probably, we will not see this day, but some of our grandchildren will.

Ya know, I just keep ending up getting more pissed off at north korea every moment that goes by. If 5 of the largest countries in the world are offering legitimate help to bring your country up to decent living standards, why would you refuse because of denuclearization? The leaders are just wanting to start some shit instead of take care of their people. Oh man, the things I would like to do to them would make satan turn tail.

U.S. negotiator: North Korea not ready for talks

TOKYO — North Korea’s recent actions indicate it is not yet ready to rejoin multilateral talks aimed at getting it to give up its nuclear weapons program, a senior U.S. negotiator said Wednesday.

Robert Einhorn, the State Department’s special adviser for nonproliferation and arms control, said North Korea’s recent alleged sinking of a South Korean warship — which Pyongyang denies — and its aggressive rhetoric suggest it is not willing to make serious commitments toward denuclearization.

“I don’t know that we are ready today to resume those talks,” Einhorn told reporters in Tokyo. “North Korea’s actions raise legitimate questions about whether they are willing to live up to their commitments.”

Five nations — China, Russia, South Korea, the U.S. and Japan — have been trying for years to convince North Korea to dismantle its nuclear program in exchange for aid and other concessions.

North Korea walked out of those talks last year after being condemned by the U.N. Security Council for firing a long-range rocket. Weeks later, North Korea carried out a nuclear test, its second.

Both nuclear tests resulted in Security Council resolutions, one in 2006 which imposed sanctions and another in 2009 that tightened them.

The U.S. and South Korean accuse North Korea of sinking a South Korean warship in March, killing 46 sailors in the worst military attack on the South since the 1950-53 Korean War.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton announced new sanctions against North Korea during a recent visit to Seoul. Einhorn said on Monday those measures would further isolate the North financially and pinpoint “illicit and deceptive” activities such as drug trafficking, currency counterfeiting and the banned trade in conventional arms.

North Korea threatens '1,000-fold' increase in weapons

Seoul, South Korea — North Korean media today threatened a "1,000-fold" military buildup as the United States ruled out lifting sanctions to try to coax the North into resuming talks aimed at its nuclear weapons programs.

Last year, North Korea quit the nuclear disarmament talks and later tested an atomic device that drew tightened U.N. sanctions.

But North Korea said today it is willing to rejoin the negotiations and remains committed to implementing a September 2005 accord on abandoning its nuclear program in exchange for aid and security guarantees. Instead, it accused the United States and other participants of holding back the six-nation talks.

North Korea "is ready for the resumption of the ... talks but decided not to go hasty but to make ceaseless patient efforts now that the U.S. and some other participating countries are not ready for them," the country's Foreign Ministry said in a statement carried by the official Korean Central News Agency.

The talks involve the two Koreas, the U.S., China, Japan and Russia.

The statement came after North Korea's first vice foreign minister, Kim Kye Gwan, returned home from a five-day trip to China, the North's key ally.

Kim said after meeting with Chinese nuclear envoy Wu Dawei on Friday that his country would not return to the disarmament talks unless sanctions are lifted, according to South Korea's Yonhap news agency.

U.S. State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley responded Friday that the sanctions exist because North Korea consistently has failed to live up to its international obligations. "We have no intention of removing those sanctions as an enticement for dialogue," he told reporters.

Today's Minju Joson newspaper, part of North Korea's state-controlled media, said in a commentary that the country's war deterrent force will be strengthened "100- or 1,000-fold" as long as U.S. military threats persist, according to KCNA.

The North has often made similar threats. The latest one came two days after South Korea wrapped up naval drills with the U.S., Australia and Japan aimed at intercepting illicit weapon shipments in a U.S.-led program targeting nations such as North Korea.

Despite repeated assurances from Washington, the North believes any military drills involving the U.S. are aimed at an eventual invasion. The naval drills were "an undisguised military provocation and declaration of a war" against North Korea, the North's main Rodong Sinmun newspaper said in a commentary carried by KCNA.

This week's one-day maneuvers were Seoul's first active participation in the Proliferation Security Initiative, aimed at deterring trade in weapons of mass destruction and missiles by states including North Korea and Iran.

Separately, the South Korean and the U.S. air forces kicked off annual drills Friday, which they say are aimed at improving their combined combat capabilities. The drills will last for a week, according to Seoul's Defense Ministry.

North Korea's latest threats continue a trend of mixed messages. The North has recently reached out to South Korea and called for talks on the resumption of stalled tours to a resort inside North Korea. The two sides have also agreed to hold the first reunions in a year later this month for families divided by the Korean War.

No, I don't believe that North Korea sank a South Korean ship in which 46 sailors died.

No, I don't believe that North Korean leaders have been throwing temper tantrums and threatening nuclear holocaust for the last 20+ years.

No, I don't believe that North Korea is as bad as the media makes them out to be. I think they are as innocent as any saint could be and as cute as a bug's ear and adorable in a snoochy-woochy, fuzzy-wuzzy, Furby kind of way.

I think that everything said about their actions is slanderous and libelous and a misrepresentation of the truth, North Korea being incurably innocent in every aspect of domestic and foreign relations.

I think we should be keeping our eye on Sweden instead of North Korea. It's a well known fact that they have been infiltrating our country with spies in the guise of excelling academic students who are up to no good and want to undermine the nation's economy, making it ripe for a hostile swedish takeover.

I think Serg is with me on this.
