I figured out what I hadn't done this time that I did the previous one, went back and did it, and got Otis etc. to join up. Gaaaah. See, this is what happens when I already KNOW all the plot information and skip things. :zap:

As for that electrical trap, what I eventually tried was crafting Periapts of Health for everyone in my party and just walking through it. This, however, demonstrated two interesting issues...

    1. The "regeneration" flag has a bad drug interaction with magic. Looking at the breakdowns, my characters were making their reflex saves against the trap, but taking FULL damage as nonlethal. So regen is converting damage to nonlethal FIRST, then the save mechanism is not reducing the damage because it is no longer considered any type of lethal. I wonder if this is why trolls have been so easy to waste with cone of cold, etc.

    2. Ummm, periapts are necklaces. Not rings. Anyone? (Periapt of wisdom does go into the correct slot. Periapt of health will only equip as a ring. Mph.)

And Thrommel... well, having the original tabletop AD&D module in my hot little hand, I have to agree that "Vampire" before you talk to him is a little silly. At the very least he should be prone/asleep and you get dialog options to wake him up... In the "old days" you would need to cure him before returning him to his kingdom, which would mean killing his undead ass, then "remove curse" and "raise dead" afterwards.

In a related vein, I recommend checking out the "Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil" module if you can find it. Interesting point of view by the writers of this 3.0 mod a few years ago on what happened to the area years later... and wouldn't you know it, Hedrack is still around and Zuggtmoy WASN'T the real evil behind the place to begin with! :eyebrow:

Nothing at all to say about the first part- but

Thrommel isn't a Vampire, (look closely in that PnP module you have) he IS in Stasis- they did OKAY on that part. But there is an Illusion that he is a Vampire--supposedly to try to get the party to unwittingly kill a good guy.

Ted will have the dialogue, if not the standing up image, fixed soon I am sure, but as he said earlier, Thrommel's dialogue does act as though he is waking up-but I agree with whomever brought this up in the first place-

There should be Some Dialogue about slaying the "Vampire" that the group finds, I would like it better if the party immediately went into combat mode as they rightly would upon coming across a real vampire, then had to "flee combat" to get out-maybe with the prompting of some sort of in combat mode dialogue, such as what happens in the absurd Iuz/Cuthbert scenario.

Ok here's a fix for the periapt of health, just unzip the file and put it in your data/rules folder.

I've been doing a lot of reading and research with the old modules. Yes, the Troika game writers did a terrible job, but a lot of the encounters and scenarios in the pnp modules would be difficult to do. Considering the pressure and time guidelines from Atari/ WotC,etc we see what we got. To go back and re-write things to be in line with the module would be a massive undertaking. I can imagine writing Iuz the evil or the Lost Caverns, etc would be a long, tough process. With 4.0 the game has come a long way since it's premature, bugged-out release.

Ted (& I suppose everyone else who is interested) I believe this protos includes all other fixes and a minor fix for the periapt of health which is not equiping to the correct equipment slot. (built from darmagon's protos) It should be added last.

I'll ask this publically since other people will be interested and might be able to shed light on things.

Allyx, when u say 'based on darmagon's protos', I don't think Darmagon's spell proto had later stuff like Gwythur's changes etc.

To heck with it, I will check myself (been promising Darmagon to do this for ages anyways).

EDIT: Ok, this protos.tab does indeed have Gwythur's stuff and seems to be the most up-to-date one. We need an up-to-date description.mes to go with it though.
