I don't know, the S&W 500 has a molded grip, which looks pretty modern, where as I was going for more of a gunslingers look in the icon, I did think about using a pic of it originally but it didn't feel right. The day is suffocatingly hot, the sun reaches its roofpeak and seems to stay there, as if the hours have been suspended. Below them is a long sloping field filled with great gray-black stone faces, eroded statues left by people who are long gone, and Grissom's men advance relentlessly amoung them as Roland and his final few companions withdraw ever upward, shooting as they go. The gunfire is constant, unending, the sound of bullets whining off the stone faces a shrill counterpoint that sinks into their heads like the bloodthirsty whine of mosquitoes. model is way better than I hoped for tho.
Roland was a warrior from the Land of the Midnight Sun With a Thompson gun for hire, fighting to be done The deal was made in Denmark on a dark and stormy day So he set out for Biafra to join the bloody fray Through sixty-six and seven they fought the Congo war Fingers on their triggers, knee-deep in gore For days and nights they battled the Bantu to their knees They killed to earn their living and to help out the Congolese Roland the Thompson gunner... His comrades fought beside him - Van Owen and the rest But of all the Thompson gunners Roland was the best So the CIA decided they wanted Roland dead That son-of-a-bitch Van Owen blew off Roland's head Roland the headless Thompson gunner (Time, time, time For another peaceful war Norway's bravest son But time stands still for Roland 'Til he evens up the score) They can still see his headless body stalking through the night In the muzzle flash of Roland's Thompson gun In the muzzle flash of Roland's Thompson gun Roland searched the continent for the man who'd done him in He found him in Mombassa in a barroom drinking gin Roland aimed his Thompson gun - he didn't say a word But he blew Van Owen's body from there to Johannesburg Roland the headless Thompson gunner... The eternal Thompson gunner, still wandering through the night Now it's ten years later but he still keeps up the fight In Ireland, in Lebanon, in Palestine and Berkeley Patty Hearst heard the burst of Roland's Thompson gun And bought it
OK, makes sense. I had originaly thought about going with a much older gun (a model 3), but decided to stick with the namesake. @Lord_Spike: You're making me feel downright uneducated. With this and the Excitable Boy reference I'm obviously going to have to try to find some of Zevon's music. @Heavydan85: It's the Smyth & Westrealm .30-.06 Bolt Action Rifle w/Scope right? Cuchulainn.
Cuch, that looks fantastic - and while it may be oversized atm, don't we want the one and only handgun in ToEE to be BIG?
Yeah we do. The model 500 is pretty big (10.5" barrel) and I do plan on making it slightly overscale in game. To me it appears a little too big right now though. Cuchlainn.
ummm i think that was the name i gave it...haven't used it in forever...only when i teleport to places to check them out for something and need extra firepower
Yeah it's a great looking rifle. I like it, but do we need it? I just gunned down the verbo-dragon with the pistol like it was a coyote. Seriously, all of my party members didn't even get to swing at it because the pistol did something like 150 points of damage. Make it a bit more powerfull than a heavy crossbow and it'll be cool. I don't think that we need another weapon with which to kill Baylors in a single round.
Well the stock is textured in base brown with darker chocolate streaks and some lighter speckling. The metal of the gun is a deep blue/black typical of bluing on early 20th century military rifles, a slightly bluer shade than most sporting rifles (because of the nickle content in the steel). The scope is a slightly lighter grey/blue also typical of scope finishes in they early 2oth century. But you're right, by the time you get it in game it's brown with some black bits. Cuchulainn.
Wow, that looks spot-on. Cuchulainn, you think you could whip up a "phase plasma rifle in the 40-watt range"? . . . (j/k!) :wyatt:
Last summer I speared a coyote in its unarmoured belly like it was a Verbo-dragon But the gun can quickly let things get out of hand - we should probably (further) limit the amount of ammo it has. I only tend to use it in testing myself, but consider it too good an item not to allow the general public a crack at having it in their games. For the many folks who won't like it, I would suggest taking one of the other rewards the young lass in question offers. Thats what I meant. Awesome work dude :notworthy
I was thinking of redoing the code for the S&W.50 to make it like a ray - so it could miss, but I might never get around to it, limiting the ammo more isn't a bad idea in the mean time. the rifle has been in the game for some time as well, it just seems that no-one noticed.
