Jian is basically a special magical weapon. You can craft it, but it already has the Keen property. I don't think there's any craftable weapon in-game that's more than 18-20 crit range.

When you guys say cleaver, are you talking about an ordinary meat cleaver like a butcher would use?

What are it's stats and profs?

    Sounds intriguing.

ugh, is that right? you couldn't enchant it? I guess it did sound a little too good to be true. Too bad, I had a really cool build all mapped out for it too.

It's been a while since I've seen it, but iirc it's the cleaver that comes with Fruella and it's about the same as the Jian, 1d8, 17-20 threat range, something like that.

The Cleaver is masterwork and can be crafted further.
It has as said above a critical range of 17-20 and does 1-10 damage.
You can buy it later on and some of the Female Bugbears use it so you can have a dual wielding rouge later on in the game.
You need to have the rouge choose the feat martial weapon - handaxe to be able to wield it.

Dual class also works, but it delays the crippling strike for the rouge.

You have to expend 2 feats otherwise: dual-wielding and handaxe. Rangers get these for "free", AND have better BAB.

Another objection to doing this is the character race has to be human, half-elf or halfling, OR you have to keep adding additional Ranger levels.

Makes me think of a very keen Dwarven Waraxe, I like it and shall certainly pursue obtaining this device of mass chopping. ;)
