Another question: Lets say all my spells are used up, now i travel back to Hommlet and get into a random encounter, will my spells be charged again ? I usually avoid such random encounters because i fear that my spells will be still used up...
You are correct in avoiding, because they are still used up. Thus why you want one man, to have a decent survival skill (druid, ranger, Barbarians have it as class skill). Because its the survival skill that gives you the option to avoid, if you fail that skill check you are taken right into battle and if your low on spell resources and HP it could be bad.
Great thread, finally getting into TOEE and the info here is handy. After bashing about a bit am making the plunge with 5 troops, Fig4/Palx, Claric. Druid, Sorcerer, and Rog4/Wizx. Even toyed with a Halfling Rog/Wiz a la Cinnabar Din's "Mystic Mosquito" from NWN1. http://home.comcast.net/~worldofgreyhawk/builds/data/build215664.html Never played the build in NWN1, usually played Halfling Rog/Fighter solo, no henchmen. so am weak on handling spells, too many years since Baldur's Gate. Many thanks to the CO8 troops!
Just so you know, later in the game you can have the option to get a ring that will allow your wizards(only-sorry no sorcerers) to re-memorize his spells. Also remember you can have your spell casters scribe spells in case you get caught with your pants down and need some back up spells/healing.
Another question: Is it possible to see if a person is hostile or friendly ? Most of the time i sneak with my rouge and attack suddely with my bow. But i fear to attack persons who maybe would be friendly... But just by looking at them it seems impossible to see if they are hostile towards you or not... Any advise ?
My advice is that don't do it unless you are certain. In some areas you can be pretty certain that everyone you will meet will probably be out to get you. In other areas, it's a safe bet you won't be attacking anyone at all. Of course, there are exceptions and it's not always sure if an apparent enemy first wants to talk to you. A good method is to leave your rogue in a good position to sneak attack and then charge in with the rest of your group. That way you can wait first what is the other group's reaction before making any moves of your own. The rogue usually has a very good initiative, so he rarely loses his/her chance to sneak attack.
Thanks ! Another question: The manual says: What do they mean with "chosen target" ? The target i have attacked last round ? The target i attack/that attacks me this round ? This really confuses me...
Not sure where you are at in the manual, but if anyone on their turn "Readies vs Spell" on the radial menu, and some enemy combatant starts to cast a spell and they are in your line of sight and you are able to target them (you have to be next to them with a melee weapon, but just in range with a missile weapon) you can go before they get the spell off. This is a great tactic with missile weapon specialist like rogues or rangers when facing spellcasters. Now you could just attack them on your turn, with say your longbow, but if you don't kill them with your attack, when its their turn they can still cast a spell at you. But, by delaying your turn with a Ready Action, you can go just before they do, and they must make a concentration check (which is CON based, so usually a low save for any spellcaster who didn't put a lot of points in the skill) to be able to cast their spell. Better to damage them and disrupt their spell than just damage them. This also seems to work against spell-like abilities, like Umber Hulk's confusion stare.
Great advice General Ghoul. I myself do not use this much, but have it happen against me quite a lot. Especially at the moathouse ambush and the tower battle with the bandits. Damn nasty when your still low level.
Is there any way how to figure out which class I multiclassed a NPC in? I can´t remember wether I gave Furnok a level of fighter or ranger :/
Hey all, a question about the Jian weapon that Au Fong is selling... iirc it's in the siangham proficiency group, does 1d8 and has a critical threat range of 17-20 :twitch: Basically it rocks and I was thinking about making a monk/fighter and have him specialize in it, but not having seen any info on this weapon in the wonderful guide on this site I wasn't sure if I'd be able to find a masterwork version or if it works as described etc, etc... any info? thanks. edit: sorry, should have searched more first, I think I found the answer in the modpack discussion thread: "Jian already counts as masterwork/magical.... " hope that is correct...
I had the same thoughts as you, but there is no masterwork Jian in the game. I was not able to enchant the ones Fong sells. It should work like the cleavers do, even though they don't say masterwork, you can enchant any of them.
