Useless, i'm telling you, unless you have feats to spare, of course :)
You'll be wasting a precious feat for only 2 points of damage.
With that feat, buy power attack and combat expertise, maximze their penalizations for full bonuses, and you'll get +5 to AC and +5 to damage. Plus the bonus for a two handed weapon.

Technically speaking, if you're going for specialization, a 4 level fighter/X lvl of rogue would get absurd levels of damage. You can also add a single level of barbarian for rage and extra movement. :eek:mg:

I suggest not to make a charcter around Scather/Fragarach. They have many issues/bugs to be 100 % reliable. Better buy your cleric and wiz the crafting feats, and create your own weapons.

I've had problems with characters not being able to get close enough to an enemy. Didn't consider that it might be due to too many melee characters...I haven't noticed this with 2 melee characters, but I have with 3.

I rarely use Mason Heartstone, my Dwarven Cleric to fight, but it's nice for him to be able to when the bow/sling characters need it. He usually stays behind the front line characters, but in front of the ranged characters. I haven't had a problem yet with Mason being able to get to a character for healing. Maybe I play too close together, don't know. And I haven't gotten that far into the game, for various reasons, so maybe later on you have to spread out more.

    I also like Bards.

That's why is better to have at least one of the warriors with a long reach weapon.
Barbarians are a great choice for this: with rage, a two handed weapon makes even more damage, and the long reach of a glaive, coupled with the extra movement, makes them stab whatever you want in the screen.
Once i made a barbarian/rogue with a spiked chain and combat reflexes. Never more. It was boring to see how it killed everything all by himself with AoOs.

Nay, not much of a real issue. I was just being nitpicky. But you can have some problems at some points. I prefer humans for Clerics, so i can use the extra feat at first, and later buy the crafting feats.

If you do rogue/ranger, do ROGUE first. Otherwise he will never be a good rogue. Half-elf rogue/bard (ROGUE first) rocks, too. Less fight, more talk.

If you have 1/2 orc cleric or druid (20 str), you can get by with one less fighter.

Write down all these combo's, and every time you start a new game, try something new. ;)

Last time I got bored, I played through with a party of characters from a certain anime =) Suggest you try doing the same, it's kind of fun.

I had a paladin with greatsword, a warrior/mage with bow skills and short-sword double-wielding, a halfing rogue, a combat mage and a LG cleric with a reach weapon.

IMO pretty much any combination works, so test your imagination :poke: I'm planning to make a fighter/mage/cleric 3-man party for 5.5.0 to finally try and reach the 20 cap...

I suggest you stay away from Fragarach/Scather, IMO it's a big fat CHEAT that shouldn't even be in the game; it's way more fun without them. I also find parties without heavy reliance on fighters more interesting - take a monk, or a ranger, a druid instead of a cleric, etc.

WoW I got some really good suggestions thanks guys!

So many to choose from though. I am looking at the Rogue/Ranger though for a 4th member.

And considering a barbarian/rogue or barbarian/druid with long ranged melee like spiked chain or long spear. Probably a half-orc version I just need to figure out details on that.

    Fighter - Human
    (power attack and combat expertise)

    Bard/Rogue 2 lvls- Half Elf
(God - Cola / gets long sword)
    ST 16 , DEX 16, DEX 10, INT 14, WIS 12, CHA 17 (char important)
(give him 2-4 lvls of rogue for sneak attack)
    support/opportunist warrior or caster

    Wizard - Human
(feats: point blank shot or dodge and spell penetration and improved spell penetration.)
Specialise: Divination only loses on Necromancy school.

Rogue/Ranger (looking at bow or crossbow?) ranged support
    (Rogue first then Ranger)

    ST 16 , DEX 16, DEX 10, INT 14, WIS 12, CHA 17
which one is DEX which is CON? Thanks. And I am writing some of these down, those that don't make it in this party can come for my next adventure :)
Just need help finalizing this party. I'm really thinking of that Half orc monk to, maybe with spiked chain or long spear (if he can weild that). Yet I keep thinking I should have a cleric in there to. Is a cleric/monk a bad idea? lol. If I have a bard/rogue of 2 lvls, should I have a rogue/ranger or should I put one into the next party? I just don't know.

Consider a 1/2 orc cleric of Grumsh (war). They come with longspear as a weapon focus. Ronald will not join, though.

Assuming that's the rogue/bard: S16 D16 C10 I14 ... (Is he goig to be in melee?) Maybe make him the bowman and make the rogue/ranger dual-wield?

This thread seems like the initial charecter and levelup discussions in tabletop. ;)

I really liked my 1/2 Orc Monk. When I start another party, I'm going to try that character again.

I like Sorcerers. Blame it on Disney. Due to some of the limitations, I like having a back up...currently a Rogue/Wizard.

I don't like combining my Bard with a Rogue. If I was to m/c or dual my Bard, I'd go with Bard/Sorcerer. Currently, I'm going pure, just to see how powerful the Bard Music effects are. I've used a gnome when I've m/c, but am currently using a 1/2 Elf.

I'm also a softy for Elmo. So I recruit him and, when he levels up, m/c or dual (whatever) to a Ranger. Never tried doing the 2 weapon thing before, but am trying it this time, with battleaxes. I have tried him with a ranseur (however you spell that) and great cleave and liked that, also.

I am not experienced so I can't get too fancy. Am still learning the basics, so I don't stray too far. I plan on playing ToEE for a long time, so I'll get fancy, I imagine, eventually.

Sometimes I feel that creating the party characters is the really fun part. Certainly seems to be the most obsessive!

2 points is 2 points more I never knockdown damage but I agree it isn't as useful if you don't have feats to spare. Probably why I like human fighter so much.

I tend to overload on melee fighters and rarely encounter a problem. My first party ever in Toee had 4 melee characters without reach weapons. Granted 2 of them were my cleric and rogue/cleric who could do other things. I guess it's the beauty of CRPG's, any combination generally works depending on what you're trying to do.

Agreed. Especially true with ToEE and it's extremely flexible combat system. I once easily beat the game with a party that had no casters at all except for a cleric - and I only took him for crafting feats and healing - he was one of my best melee fighters once he broke out the holy weaponry.

    My current party consists of:

NG Male Half-Elf Bard 6/Fighter 2 (two weapon melee focus with lots of social skills ...mirror image and heroism work well with him)

CG Female Elf Cleric 8 (War and Protection Domains ...although I wish I had gotten Good for crafting purposes)

CN Female Human Barbarian 6/Fighter 2 (cleave and big damage focus)

NG Female Halfling Wizard 8 (got craft wand so i can keep throwing out magic missiles ...only problem here is that she cant use magic staves, such as staff of fire, due to her size)

CG Male Elf Rogue 4/Fighter 4 (went for stealth, lock picking, disable and archery ...sneak attack isn't that great but sneak attack seems to suck in this game)

    NPCs:

    Elmo (A must have ;) )

Ronald the Cleric (was using him as a secondary archer but he sold the bow I gave him ...so done with that)

Meleny the Druid (Medium Encumbrance Specialist :D her sucky pets die a lot ...oh well)

Ronald the Cleric did NOT like my 1/2 Orc character. I don't recall if he refused to join if I kept the 1/2 Orc or if I got mad and canned Ronald.

^ Dunno, never liked him as an NPC anyway. I tend to overload my party on spellcasters, so I usually need NPC "tanks"
