Yeah they'd be done off the goblin model, sorta a gnollicised goblin with scales not fur and proper humanoid legs - ain'tya played BG? It was crawling with the little rodents. O and they are brown (though I hvae always imagined they should be green, dunno y. The scales i guess). Horrid little things, i love em! My favourite humanoid easily. Edit: while your in scanning mood Spike, how about the MM pic? O and thanks again for those ones u emailed me.
well the thing is I can't edit the models, I havn't used 3d studio max in 3 years, don't have a copy of it and don't have the plugins if I did. So I'd have to use an existing model. Had a look at what a Kobold is, here's one of my references, I got the impression that they're blue, but I think thats the mythology version not the D&D version. And no I havn't played BG, played about 5min of BGII, I used to play the total war games, battle realms and warcraft 2, but those are all the compter games I played, I guess I spent more time playing backgammon, wacking each other with sticks, real life and other miscellaneous activities that I wont get into in case I incriminate myself. [edit] how could I forget Quake, thats where I first stared editing texture maps.
so a small bugbear model, a small gnoll model, a goblin model... which one would be best? I personally would go for one that looked like the mythical version (goblin) but as this is a D&D game...
I'd start with the lizardman model because it already has the long nose and tail, and shrink it in the protos (put the number 50 or there abouts in column 6) and make a brownish green skin.
yeah I know about collum 6 to make stuff smaller, do numbers over 100 make stuff bigger? I havn't tryed it that way yet.
It certainly does, I made an adult white dragon from the ice lizard model, and put about 140 in column 6, trouble was the distance from the ground grew with the model, the attacking anims, and the dragon taking damage anim didn't quite match up, but it still looked cool when they died.
the reason I'm asking is because I am going to make new weapons; - greatmace, from morningstar (greatclub) - greatmace, from Hill giant tetsubo (greatclub) - fail, medium weapon single handed, from heavy fail (morningstar I think) - greataxe, from standard battle axe, bigger two handed (greataxe) - greataxe, from magic battle axe (like Elmos) (greataxe) - battle axe, from hand axe (battleaxe) - No dachi, from katana, like greatsword two handed (greatsword) - great hammer, from maul* two hands (greatclub or warhammer) - giants hand axe (greataxe) - giants battle axe (battleaxe) - ballista, a giants crossbow (heavy crossbow or light not sure) - giants cleaver (hand axe) there were more but I can't remember anymore just now. these weapons won't have any special stats just give the game more variety and different looks *standard maul is warhammer, masterwork maul is greatclub go figure
btw who says lizardman model, whos says something else, and when its done someone else can figure out how to put it into the game, [side topic]I think I just had an apostrophe <Smee I think you mean an epiphany> about the animation code, not all monsters have the code to open chests, disable devices, cast spell etc but I think I can add it so with a few lines in the protos, a quick zap with the hex editor, your werewolf PC can now be a mage without a CTD.[/side topic] now I'm now sure how I'll test the kobold, I might temporarily write over a current NPC just so I can meet one in the game and I volunteer Orion to come up with the correct stats and stuff, cos I'm just going to leave it at whatever.
I'm the one who wants them, so I'll put my hand up and do the hard work. I mean if Orion wants to do all the protos details thats fine, we can trust they will be done accurately. But I am quite willing to do it. And i would say 'Lizardman', as long as you can do the colours ok. I don't know how to change the colours, if it is any different to doing the hair models (where there were different colour charts etc) then don't worry, shrink a gnoll instead. O and they prefer garish coloured clothes, oranges and reds, though I dunno that can be done. We'll need some yappy sounds too... hmmmm I can do that bit too... Here's some BG kobolds getting massacred: http://www.planetbaldursgate.com/images/photo/index.asp?id=481326 And here's one that IS green and HAS been based on a gnoll imho: http://www.avatarhome.com/AniGifs/BaldursGate/kobold.htm i've also got the classic Monster Manual image (never mind Spike ) and another, but can't seem to do images atm <sigh>. So here they are. And finally, something irrelevant I FORBID you to click on. Don't do it. I mean it, don't! :censored: http://3d.onego.ru/large/succubus.jpg
the clothes shouldn't be a problem, beacause most monsters don't wear any at all, it just looks like it to the untrained eye hey has any one seen a dark blade or scorpps crown in the game because all the bits are there. maybe haven't been added to the game code The reason I volunteered Orion is that I trust him to come up with the correct stats for the monster.
WOW! Gaear ought to like that one, Ted...Darley's mom, I take it? A whole 'nother concept of MILF altogether... I guess little lizardmen are ok, but...I'd be interested in how small gnolls might look. And I gotta wonder if there isn't an unused kobold animation somewhere in what Troika created & disabled in this game... Kobolds are referred to as rat-men and dog-men on an almost equal basis in my experience. I never thought of them as green, rather more like dark (but not charcoal) grey. The scales come from life dwelling underground burrowing as they do without beneft of the quality tools that gnomes & dwarves have created for themselves, and having evolved burrowing by claw, more or less. I would refer to them as 'scaly' but not necessarily 'scaled'. And what does that definition provided add to our other discussion about Trolls, et al? More proof that there is no strict definiton of anything in a fantasy world. PS - My pic came from the overleaf page in the MM, just after the Kobold entry. I thought it would be more entertaining.
unlike the dark blade and scorpps crown (I noticed a spelling mistake in scorrps crown) there are no bits for a Kobold, I'll try a gnoll, if you're lucky it might be ready tonight...
*Fudge packing, sister fucking, cuntfaced fuckhead.* I'm talking to the game and my efforts to make a kobold, here's the story as it now stands, I can either make a new character that looks just like a gnoll in everyway or overwrite a gnoll to make it small and green, for some reason I can't "overwrite" the new character called kobold to make it small and green. *Donkey raping, ass-sucking, shit for brains, dumbfuck.*
