Thats okay ted... you can still get the unarmed damage of a level 5 monk and an extra stunning fist if you have that feat... unfortunately I've not been able to get the AC bonuses to work for non-monks yet.

Can anyone confirm that it works as advertised yet?

    Yes, yes. Stop nagging. :p

But I know that lacking feedback is annoying, so I've taken your belt out for a short stroll. AC and damage bonus to my monk did work, so did the +1 stunning fist thing. Abundant step did correctly not work, since I wasn't high lvl enough.

Thanks Spellslinger - it's extremely nice to know that it works on at least one other computer in the world! :joy:

(I'll stop nagging now then... :shy:)

Thanks! Hope you enjoy it - myself, I'm really enjoying playing my lvl 8 monk so I think they're underrated. :)

Well I could shorten the description, but that seems a bit of a shame. Unfortunately it's the same description that's used when you shift click on the item once you have it. If you look, there are quite a few items like this.

I'd like to canvas opinion about what people think regarding the Monk's Belt being sold at one of the shops in the game so that players who can't craft it can buy one? If yes, which shop would be the most appropriate?

I've been using the belt in my own evil party game and my Monk (monk 10/rogue 1) absolutely rocks! He can move so fast around the battlefield, and with the Monk's Belt, bracers of armor, dex gloves and amulet of mighty fists (he married and used Meleny as his crafting slave! hehehe) he pulverises most enemies in one round, rarely getting hit with his 28 ac. :D

I would suggest the Master of the Bazaar of the Bizarre (but not just because I made him), IIRC he's the only NPC capable of crafting this item in ToEE.

That sounds sensible. My only concerns are that the master doesn't always come back (due to ill health :evil_laug ) and if he does it's pretty late in the game. Would it be okay for the belt to be availible from the assistant - like one he made before wandering off? Players would still need to be a fair way into the game and have enough cash to buy it.

I'm not trying to sound funny, but if you have an 11th level crafter, you're already pretty far into the game. The main reason I suggested him is because no other NPC's can cast either of the required spells.

If you want it to be more widely available though, perhaps Toruko has one? Or perhaps Burne has one in his shop? Or Calmert may have one in his shop? Or maybe even Mother Screng uses it to tie bags of herbs closed? ;)

Hmm, well actually you did sound funny to me....

I do agree with your suggestion Allyx, I just wondered what you thought about him having left one with the assistant along with every scroll known to wizard! Now, if I am reading your (rather sarcastic hehe) reply right, you don't think this is a good idea and it may as well be sold at the local convenience store if logic is gonna be compromised anyway. :p

That's abosolutely fine by me and unless anyone else has an opinion, or I've misinterpreted things, I'll add it to the Masters' shop only.

Well in PnP D&D, there usuallt aren't any "Arcane Creation Surplus Stores", magical items are built to order by NPC's who can pay the full market value stores. I added one to Verbobonc, but made it deliberately hard to gain access to, to prevent this shop from being exploited too easilly, and I believe I've struck a fairly even ballance. One the one side, most of the magical items are for sale for a fair price, on the other side, a lot of players won't find it on thier first run through the game, and if they do, chances are they're at the level required to craft anything on sale themselves or higher anyway.

The monks belt is your item, you can add it to whichever shop you like, but my suggestion is IMHO the most reasonable choice.

Well, the only problem is, that the master is only available if you followed a certain path in the past. Maybe it would be good to have another merchant available for those not caring about the master's health, or maybe one merchant that is there regardless. I never got to see the master yet... /me cleans blade behind the back ;)

Problem with PC vs PnP version of game is that you automatically know when you have a magic item....

That said, I'm with Allyx - put it for sale on the master but also perhaps have one version of it put somewhere obscure-ish as loot. It's a very powerful item so it does need to be placed carefully.

Can't download anything atm so really looking forward to trying this out (and a few other things which have been done in the past month).
