Modifying skin color?

I am perplexed as to why TOEE does not allow you to adjust the skin color of your avatars. This is a feature that seems like it would not have been difficult to implement and has been a D&D norm since at least the first Baldur's Gate. Why or why is TOEE a great white world?

Currently our engine incurs severe penalties and does not have an easy API for manipulating colors or hues on a subset of colors of a texture on the fly. One idea was to have our texture artists redo a bunch of different skin tone textures with all the armors but I don't think this will be feasible within our estimated time frame. I think it is something that we want to add, but probably wont make it for our ship date. But you never know...

<[Troika]Steve> Nope, texture recoloring was a limitation that crept into the engine early on and we decided to avoid it. The hair itself is hanlded by 8 different colored textures on the models. With severe rewriting we can change it but it most likely would not be for a patch.
