    Re: Demi-human balance

I think the comment about the "Niche" for demi humans is on the money.
A dwarf cleric is great with his war axe.
an elf rogue/cleric is awesome with a sword and 2nd line combat
A bard elf is awesome because of the weapons he/she can use
Same same with a human cleric with an extra feat.
I've never used hobbits in this game, they're too slow, but some people swear by them

By them, at them, to them, about them...

You forgot Half-Orc barbarian - I have known one or two of those ;)

And I swear you will see gnome alchemists in ToEE! Swear it! (Or at it, or to it...)

    Re: Demi-human balance

Well, I think this started as something legitimate for this forum (discussion of demi-humans in the game) it probably did morph ino something for the GM forum when it became 'lets make the following changes in protos.tab'. But we're not actually that legalistic about it, we just like to make the point that recommendations for changes / mods etc belong in the modding forum, and ordinary punters (who may have no interest in becoming modders but just like playing - thats cool, thats who we make our mods for) should probably not be being advised to open their game and blindly hack at things.

    Rule of thumb:

    - The ToEE forum is for discussing playing the game as is

    - The GM forum is for discussing changes

Obviously there will be overlap at times: common sense is advised :)

congrats on getting the feats to work. but how about you give us a step by step on how you did it. that would be nice too. after all this is a modding forum. show your progress and share how you did it. thanks.

You need proto editor which you can find among the available tools on this site. Load ToEE/data/rules/protos.tab

Under Select Shown Headers choose PC. You will see listings for both Halfling male and female. Much further to the right you will see columns for feats. Add the four weapon feats to four of the feat columns for both genders.

I strongly suggest you first view (and don't touch) the NPC portion of protos.tab and learn how the feats are formatted. Spelling is of critical importance. Any error and the game will not load.

I would also like to suggest that (if you feel unsure about fiddling around) you consider waiting until 5.5.0 comes out of Beta - the changes will be implemented then by Gaear or, if not, I will incorporate them into my own add-on pack mentioned in this forum.

can you do use the toee world builder or do you need to do it in the phayze proto editor? and thanks for showing how to do it. too many people brag about what they can do and never want to share how it is done.

    one more off topic question:
do you know how to add spells? since you know how to add feats i was just wondering if you know how to do that as well. and if so i a nice step by step would be appreciated. thanks

There are some available! I certainly have no ability to add spells that do not already exist in the game.

    'Quoted for truth'.

In this case, it means you have to write something to post: you can't just reply with a quote ;)
