Thanks, everyone! A few of the methods I used for the map I've found are really handy, and a few aren't that great. For the grass and dirt, I used two layers, one for the dirt and one for the grass, then I used the different eraser brushes to clear out the grass. I'm really happy with the way that turned out.

The most difficult part of it was trying to get the logs on the walls to look round instead of flat as they were in the original images, I think rounding off the bottoms more would give that look to them.

The shadow under the roof was done using a dark grey brush set to about 50% transparency and run over itself. I don't think this is a very good method, looking at Troika's maps, I think it would be better to select the area for the shadow and adjust the brightness rather than try and draw in a shadow.

I've just picked up a 30/60 degree set square so I'll be able to draw up buildings and such while I'm not at the computer and scan them in. Larger maps would be harder, because the buildings would need to be at different perspectives, not all isometric.

A good first effort! You should see if Screeg needs any help on KotB; the interaction there is bound to be of benefit in both directions.

    Amen to that!

Level10, an outdoor mapper is something we desperately need in KotB (although Screeg has shown himself more than capable in that area, but he has an Inner Fortress to do ;) ). I have had no luck doing grass.

If you are interested in helping with KotB, PM me or email me at

I have a few needs for maps but there is plenty of scope for imagination in how you implement them, and i can set u up with textures etc.

Or make maps for ToEE expansion if u prefer, don't let me talk you out of that :)
