    anyone else had this problem with livs mod- My wizard cast identify on the partys stuff, scrolls and potions and next thing i had no cash!!!! it was charging me 100 gold to identify my own stuff with my own wizard!!!

    Identify cost 100GP no matter how, who or what does it. You have to use it on magical items such as weapons, wands, armour, etc. Use readmagic on potions and scrolls, it doesn't cost anyrhing. A Wand of Identify comes in handy. There's a couple in the game or you can craft one. Just make sure you have Atari patch 2 so you use readmagic on potions and scrolls.

    Erm, that's how it is meant to be (think it was the case in original game too). Eye of newt, tale of puppy etc for Identify costs 100 gp, so it comes out of your cash pile. The good news is that the Co8 patch lets you use the read magic spell to identify scolls and potions.

    The Final Battle

    Liv... so I finally finished the game last night, all the way through with version 1.5 of your mod. Once again... you've done some incredible work.

    I know you mentioned before that you haven't yet finished the game and desire to make it more difficult. I just thought that I'd mention that Zuggtmoy is in real need of a power boost to keep her in line with some of the other encounters you've beefed up. My 6 PC, 0 NPC party killed her by the end of round 2 on our first try and were hardly scratched at all.

    The entire party was level 10 and using some pretty powerful weapons they crafted over the course of the game, but being that that same party was pretty much leveled by the balor guardian I'm hoping ole Z can be given a facelift at some point.

    Also, some of the Challenge Ratings seemed off. The Balor guardian was a CR 8 which seemed way too low whereas the Hezrou guardian was a CR 28! Also, the Eye of the Deep's were each a challenge rating 14, so I gained mass xp from that fight. It actually was listed in my logbook in the Most XP from a Single Encounter heading.

    Other than that... I had a ton of fun and things seemed to work. I never did get to finish the Cure for Amii quest, but I guess that was just luck of the draw.

    I'm thinking about trying again with a Neutral Evil party (I was Chaotic Good this last time around).

    Did you do everything "right"? As in destroy the skull and refuse the pillar? Each of those weakens Zuggy considerably. I've tried fighting her without doing either with an evil party (so no holy weapons) and she destroyed my party repeatedly.

    Yes, the Balor's CR is much lower than it should be. I don't know where the Hezrou's CR of 28 is coming from because it's listed in the protos as a CR 9, I believe.

    As for the Eyes of the Deep, I think they're worth every bit of XP they give you, as they constantly kill and generally messup my party members with their assorted spell-like abilities every time I fight them.

    Replace demoness Z with LLolth, Demon Queen of Spiders all maxed out . Now you got a fight on your hands.

    CR is CR + 1 CR for each class level.

    The Hezrou has 10 Cleric levels and 10 Wizard levels. It is listed as 8 CR. Thus the final total is 28 CR. (I have no idea why they gave it all those class levels).

    In my next build I changed the CRs of the Guardian Demons to the Correct CR according to 3.5 rules, however they will also be much harder to defeat as I also changed their stats to be closer to the correct stats.

    The demons that are summoned by the party and by various Demons/NPCs in the game will be Lesser Demons and will not have such high CR. Their stats are lower as designed by Troika.

    There are a few other creatures that will have slightly more acurate CR levels.

    I don't think it is a good idea to increase more than a few creature's CR as that merely gives out more experience thus causing the party to level faster which degrades the over-all difficulty level which ultimately makes for less challenging game play. And I simply do not want to sacrifice game play for rules adherence.

    Rules are important, but a challenging and fun game is far more important. House rules are all about making sure that fun and challenging aren't sacrificed for the sake of rules and regulations.

    Ah. I never noticed those. Guess I didn't look closely enough. Would explain the massive amounts of hitpoints.

    One thing I noticed you did with your mod, Liv, at least for the skeleton guards, was to change a larger hit die into a bunch of smaller ones. (1d12 into 3d4 in this case.) You might be better off reducing the die size and then giving a bonus to hp (1d12 into 1d8+4 or 1d6+6, which, incidently, is something I actually do in my own games for important fights) as the engine takes the number of hit dice into account when determining the effects of turn undead and certain spells.

    just wondering, has anyone successfully commanded the skeleton priest with rebuke undead?

    Nope. Though I've turned him before. His guards went running off in all directions. Meanwhile, he immediately ran over to the hill giant. Heh.

    That is exactly why I did it the way I did it. I am convinced that Desecration does nothing. All my tests indicated that it did nothing.

    So my solution was to give them more hit dice that were smaller so that they would be harder to turn.

    This is exactly why I lowered the skeleton priests CR because the engine only looks at the Monster Hit dice for Turn Undead and ignores the Class Hit dice... so it was way too easy to turn the Skeleton Priest. I was forced to give him extra hit dice and then lower his CR to compensate.

    The whole encounter is a joke if you simply Turn Undead and they all die. I didn't want that to happen and casting Desecration didn't help, so I found a solution.

    You can still turn the guards, but you need to have beter than average skills/rolls to do it.

    Going over level 10

    Hi Liv I just downloaded and installed your mod. I saw in the install text that you gave a couple of switches for either going over level 10 or not. I couldn't tell which one did what. Could you please clarify which to use if I want to go over level 10. Thanks.

    which message to ignore, mine or the error?

    I never had problems installing patch 2 straight out, so it might be a version difference (UK vs US maybe?)

    Regardless, it SHOULD say that you need to install the 3.0.4 co8 patch before installing liviona's
