You did it, Kiddo! I think the first time is the best time. Unfortunately, you're going to have to stop refering to yourself as a "Noob". But, like us all, you can keep asling noob questions.
Took me awhile to get that. Clever. I am not attempting Zugg whatever tonight, I don't think. Too much excitement might not be in my best interests, sleepwise, hmm?
Another question. Otis is leveling up. I have kept him as a fighter. 11 levels, I think. Would there be a benefit to leveling him up as a Paladin? I noticed that my Paladin did not subcomb to fear...so that could be a benefit? Unless you need more than 1 level. I am not quite ready for dreaming, sweet or no, yet, GA82. But thank you.
Otis is neutral good, not lawful good. But three level's of paladin would give you aura of courage for your party. I think Otis has a high resistance to fear, and I don't think he runs, anyway. It's been a while since I've used him. Sweet Dreams, anyway.
You'll see what I mean when you're there. Make sure you save the game before you talk to the old lady though, because there's so many different ways to finish the game, you might want to try a couple until satisfied =) As for Zuggy, you don't really HAVE to fight her. There's a chance you won't depending on the dialogue. If Otis is indeed NG like GA said, then you shouldn't be able to give him paladin levels in the first place. If you can, it's a glitch =) The Aura of Courage works within a certain range around the Paladin. If you're worried about Fear, check what your Will save is. If it's low, slap on Herdrack's helmet and a cloak of resistance, and/or use items/spells to buff Wisdom. Another way to do it would be spell resistance, as long as Fear is being used as a spell. IIRC, he does have a decent Will save, but I only used him once, very long ago, on that very first TOEE playthrough. Otis has got to be in the top 3 overpowered followers, up there with Scorpp and Oolghrist.
It depends if he has the feats you want him to have; Fighters (esp. Human fighters) get lots of feats. I have at least 1 tank level as a Ftr at least until Weapon Specialization, and preferably Greater Weapon Focus. I've never been high enough level (Ftr 12) to see if Greater Weapon Specialization is implemented. Barbarian can give more HP, Rage, and some special abilities; or give him a spellcaster level to enable wand/ scroll use use.
Better late than never... Congratulations, Good Lady! *gives big hig* Tears of joyish accomplishment, tempered by tears of frustration just getting there, can be quite the emotional release, no? :eyebrow: Beware, ToEE does tend to creep into your dreams in weird ways. Much like most things, come to think of it. As for help and advice, Dismissal is your friend! Anything that the Balor or Zuggy summons can sometmes be brought down by a dismissal spell fropm a high level spell caster (cleric, wizerd, etc.). Yeah, you still gotta deal with spell resistance, asaves, etc, but if your casters took Spell Penetration and Greater Spell Penetration, you've got more than a fighting chance. SPOILER: If you want to check out all the different ways to deal with Zuggy and end the game, head over here. It's pretty neat! http://www.gamebanshee.com/templeofelementalevil/locations/lockedlevel.php EDIT: Woo Hoo!! Got the link to work!
I just discovered a really awesome thing - when you cast Mordekainen's Sword, you can take that +20 greatsword and give it to one of your charas until it expires, lol. My cleric had like +41 AB :biggergri Balor is going to cry tonight! The weird thing is that the "sword" NPC just keeps floating around, swordless :shrugno:
Well, I'm not evil enough... Wait, I am =))) Balor went down without much of a fight though, the two Hezrous he summoned disappeared in two rounds - thanks to whoever suggested Dismissal!
...And so Zuggtmoy went down tonight, again. In the heat of battle she surrendered, but a treacherous bug disallowed my party to speak to her, so I was forced to kill her. My LE party must feel bad to have commited such a major good. Damn. BTW, since when is it that Zuggtmoy has 700+ HP??
