Feel free to fiddle with Verb. I will not be using the priests for the first release of my expansion, it is far too massive as it is.
Well, I was basically just disagreeing with everything that had been suggested  eg: - another tavern! - another brothel! - another trader! - HB in a warehouse! If I had to add something, i would say an organisation of some sort. A LAWFUL one, of the sort that would be openly found in Verbobonc. Bardic Guild, Wizards, Alchemists, Bounty Hunters (the edge of Lawful), some group headquarters or other. Local chapter, not 'whole of Flaeness' headquarters. Gimme a couple hours and I will trawl my books and make more specific sugestions. You can already sell her to Mona
A pet shop? To sell familiars? Different familiars. (Knowing nothing about modding, I don't know if that is even feasible, but it would be really different, if it could be done.) Nobody mentioned cemeteries. Every city has one. Not ToEE, that I know of. I, personally, would like hats in more colors and feminine boots/shoes. Just sayin.
A pet store or a hat-and-boot store (the town cobbler, indeed) are doable and not yet in the game. Otherwise, here's some schools, guilds, organisations, academies etc. These are thrown up as ideas (not necessarily doable). Alcheminary Herbalist Religious Organisations (Martial Orders etc) (From Paths of Magic) Magic Academies and Guilds: The Storm Weavers (weather specialists) Arcane Marauders (arcane pirates) Galvanar Spellmasters (political intrigue) Telwar Pyros (blowers-up of things, muchly) Celestial Chorus (bards) Snakebrines School for Witches and Warlocks (Alan Rickman must be rolling in his grave  ) Carharte Timekeepers (Chronomasters) Royal Society of Singers (More bards) The Sanguine Society (sorcerers) The School of the Unbroken Circle (Peak body of Conjuration and Summoning) The Benevolent Order (Trickery - arcane jesters) The Bringers (sorcerers only!) Companions of the Penetrating Gaze (enchanting dancers!) Garju and Daughters (summoners for profit) Ring Mages (Mages with rings) A Mage's Tower (each room adds various bonuses to spells cast there, depending on type, but of course you have to overcome the powerful Mage and make the Tower your own first) (From Complete Arcane) Magic Societies: The Arcane Order (College of Wizardry) Seekers of the Song (bards) The Wayfarers Union (union of Teleporters) (From Complete Adventurer) Adventuring Guilds: Blacklock Loreseekers (adventurers seeking knowledge, for proift) The Bloodhounds (bounty hunters) College of Concrescent Lore (Uptight Bardic college of academics) Daggerspell Guardians (magic-using dual-dagger-weilding purveyors of swift justice) Eyes of the Overking (Mossad) Grayhaunt Investigators (Sherlock Holmes) League of Boot and Trail (travellers, guides and scouts) Nightsong Guild (shadowy, dodgy, ancient and respected guild) Order of Illumination (everyone is guilty until proven insane!) Shadowmind Guild (rogue-psions. Never mind...) Talespinners League (cheerful Bardic college of storytellers) (From Complete Scoundrel) 'Scoundrel' Societies: The Free League (non-evil) Seven Raven's Clan (non-evil) The Blind Tower (criminal) (From Sword and Fist) Martial Organisations: The Knight Protectors of the Great Kingdom (Chivalry) The Knights of the Watch (Defenders) Warrior Monks of Shao Lin (didn't save Tibet...) (From Song and Silence) Bardic Colleges: College of Arcanobiological Studies (they study monsters. And sing) Lamenters’ Order (they study death. And sing dirges) Watchers for the Coming Sunset (Apocalypticists. The end is nigh!) Conservatory of the Ineffable Chord (bards who just study music. Well I never...) (From Tome and Blood) Arcane Organisations: The Arcane Order (Academics) Beastchasers (creature lore) Bleak Academy (necromancers) Broken Wands (arcane assassins) Escriers (they have palantir brooches!) League of Diviners (diviners. Really) The Queendom (Small island nation. Scryler would like it) Savants of the Flame (more blowers-up of things). Spellswords (elven fighter/magic-users. And non-elven). (From Defenders of the Faith) Church Organisations: The Solarium (Temple of Pelor) The Mausoleum Hall (Temple of Wee Jas) The Cup of Blood (Temple of Erythnul) Justice Blade (Vigilante Paladins) The House of Death (Undead-fighting morticians) Council of Blades (Duelists) Laughing Knives (Chaotic clerics who fight tyrants) Order of the Chalice (Noble demon-fighters) Stargazers (the Jesuits) If any of this sounds at all interesting, Gaear, say so and I will post more specific info
Additionally, the bottom floor of the Inn and the streets need recruitable NPC's and people with quests for the party. With betrayal and other complications, of course.
Any kind of new content would be most welcome. The church of St.Cuthbert and Heironeous have a bitter rivalry in Verbobonc that could be explored. The Scarlet Brotherhood could be expanded. Verbobonc is a large, major capital city so just about anything is possible or available. Higher level adventuring, say 10+, with high CR villians and monsters. Put it after level4/Hedrack and before the nodes. Maybe someone could script/draw a Marilith. The AI and combat animation would be tough, tho. It would be a cool fight with the 6 swords and all.
It would indeed be cool to do an entire city like Baldur's Gate, BUT: it would take us 10 years to complete; we only have the one cross street/corner map graphic anyway. So we're stuck with a small part of Verbobonc. I've given this some consideration, and I think we're just going to do a regular trader shop and a three-level city watch post with jail. The Ted/Scryler ideas sound good, but frankly the attendant workload sounds prohibitive - more than I really wanted to take on with this. And yes there should be more people around, but I have no plans to give them any quests at this time. Thanks for the inpuit, all.
Well, isn't Senshok already a high-level item trader? I guess the weapon/armor traders' stocks could be upgraded as well.. So, here's a few suggestions: - A better tie-in for Hextor priest into the LE vignette. - Stronger/more guards for Wilfrick (aren't they too few/too wimpy?) - Some kind of non-combat interaction with the drow (I KNOW you said "no new quests", but maybe? :nervous: Shouldn't be too much work - just several dialogue files... something like an option to side with the drow, or maybe a possibility of brotherhood-drow alliance against Wilfrick) - Some sort of explanation as to why the drow and the dragon are in the same dungeon? :bored: - Access to worldmap from the map with the adult dragon. I'll write more if I can think of sth.
I am just looking forward to this, frankly more in function of the bugfixings than the Verbomod overhaul, which is still appreciated of course.
Rastor is in kind of a no-man's land - literally. I believe that TSR never put borders on the World of Greyhawk because borders are created by men in a world that is filled with other humanoids. The nation-state does not exist. Rastor is SW of Hommlet, in the Lortmill Mountains, which are dominated by dwarves and other non-humans (past the Kron Hills - the gnomes) on the Veluna/Verbobonc side of the watershed (according to the RToEE map, which has no borders), if we assume that the height of the water forms the border between Veluna/Verbobonc and Celene and Ulek. As to whether it is de-jure in Veluna or Verbobonc, does it really matter? The Viscounty of Verbobonc is a near-independent province of the Archclericy of Veluna, ruled in palatine by a powerful viscount. At any rate, no recognized state asserts de-facto authority over Rastor.
Okay, thanks Basil. Would it be safe to say that Larneystoe is within the viscounty? I need a small town that would be considered to bear allegiance to Verbobonc, much the way Hommlet apparently does.
Apparently, Larneystoe is part of Nyrond according to Living Greyhawk. http://web.onyxgate.com/turbine/scenario-show?id=VER1-08
Okay ... what would be a small village generally near Verbobonc that would be considered to fall under its authority?
Here is some stuff I found: Verbobonc City http://erronis.net/leofrinne/verbobonc.htm http://www.canonfire.com/cfhtml/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=762 The Viscounty http://shadowend.pbwiki.com/f/OJ9 Verbobonc map.pdf
